STPA Webinar: Equity in Public Administration: The Case of Mass Transit
On Wednesday, Feb. 10th, 1 pm EST , ASPA will be hosting a webinar featuring STPA officers Dr. Olga Smirnova and Dr. Gerard Wellman. Social equity: what is it? How is it defined? Why does it matter? An upcoming ASPA webinar will discuss the difficulty of measuring equity in public administration by focusing on the role of social equity in public transit. The presentation will begin with measurements of equity and modern technology challenges and opportunities. Then, the results of qualitative interviews with public transit administrators will be included to discuss how equity is perceived and operationalized by transit public administrators. This, the presenters will argue, revolves around the administrators' personal characteristics and their beliefs about environmental justice, economic development, and perceived stigma of transit usage. Finally, the webinar will conclude with questions and answers.

The webinar can be access through the Professional Development Webinar Series through aspanet.org
