Some move slow and some move fast, but both are fun to explore. Who do you think will win the race? Get ready to hop and crawl along with these fun critters.
Do Pancakes Grow on Trees?
While the pancake might not come from the tree, spring brings a sweet surprise from the trees. Join us to help a pig on a mission to make a yummy treat as we learn where the sweet syrup starts off this season.

Discover how Illinois' living landscape came to be, with geologist, professor, and author Raymond Wiggers. Ray's talk will explore the origins of Illinois some 20,000 years ago when the landscape was a forbidding ice desert. Ray will describe the changes since the last glaciation, and the evolution of the Prairie State's landscapes, soils, and plant communities into their present forms.

The Hickory Knolls Discovery Center is a 10,500 sq. ft. building featuring a spacious lobby that soars more than 20 feet in height, with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame views of the oak savanna just outside the doors. A wide range of attractions appeal to visitors of all ages including live animal displays, interactive floor-to-ceiling murals, indoor turtle pond and wetland exhibit, and more.
