Enjoy Art in Oil City this Weekend! There is a lot going on in Oil City this weekend! As part of O.C.toberfest, we will join other artists for an artwalk on the ground floor of the National Transit Building.

O.C.toberfest October 12-14th

The second weekend in October is always a busy time in downtown Oil City, so OC Main Street decided to partner with local groups to combine their activities into a fall festival. It's the first annual O.C.toberfest, with fun events for adults and kids!

Along with several other artists, we will have a small display set-up in the National Transit Building. We'll be selling our notecards and fine art prints and will have some of CJ's recent work on display.

Since there will be other activities happening in Town Square and nearby, participating artists will be collected on the ground floor to make it easy for you to pop into the building to enjoy art and craft from several makers in one place!

Saturday, October 13th 12:00 noon - 5:00pm Historic National Transit Building 206 Seneca Street Oil City, PA Ground level - access from the main entrance on Seneca Street or the side entrance on Center Street. Handicap access is through the back of the building, accessed from Center street next to the church.

Our notecards are blank inside and each have a story about the art on the back. On Saturday, we will have our stylized designs and winter themed cards available as single cards and in packages. When you are buying cards to send to friends and family, please think about supporting independent artists rather than buying mass produced.

Discount Pricing on Fine Art Prints

For our local supporters, we have decided to offer a discount on our fine art prints on Saturday. For cash and check payments, prints will be 25% off. For credit card purchases, discounts will be 15%. We're gearing up to place reorders and start new prints, so supplies will be limited.

CJ in the Studio

CJ recently completed this new painting, The Path to the Mountain Shrine Watercolor and India Ink on handmade paper We've had a beautiful oak frame hand-crafted for this painting, and CJ plans to have it ready for display on Saturday.   Below, you can see the painting in process and completed, alongside the original drawing. Stop by Saturday and be among the first to see it in person!

Transit Studio Artists

We'll be joined by several other Transit Studio Artists Association members. In addition to our displays on the ground floor, the Transit Fine Arts Gallery and Gift Shop will be open and Earthworks Pottery Studio will be hosting activities all day. Tom Niles is a woodcarver and painter who specializes in fun holiday themed decorations. He will be selling his work and demonstrating carving.

Whistlefish Studios will have a great presentation of hand crafted jewlelry and other works by Heidi Whistle. Nationally known artist Dee Fish will be displaying her comic books, graphic novels and original art.

Linda Lineman is a well known and very skilled porcelain painter. She also teaches classes and is committed to passing along the traditions of her craft.

Home Design and Consultation Projects

Although many of our home and building design projects are located in other parts of the country, we love working locally in our new community!

In addition to having the wonderful opportunity to work with local homeowners over the past couple of years, we have been honored to be hired by local businesses as well. We recently completed color consultation and office decorating work for CASA Venango County and were humbled learning about the important work they do for children. It was a lot of fun to work with them and we're excited for the transformation of their working spaces! They will be hosting an open house later this month, so we'll save photos until after their unveiling. Also significant in our community.... we've been excited about the work the Oil Region Alliance is doing to save and repurpose the Downs Building, and were thrilled to be part of the team working on the exterior this summer, designing colors. Master Carpenter Ron Gustafson, and his team were awarded the project of restoring the bay windows on Center and Sycamore Streets. The dormer work is just a glimpse into the care and quality of work that will be happening on this historic building in future phases of restoration and adaptive reuse. The photo to the right below is a glimpse at how we specify the detailing for the painters.
