More Than 300 Choice and Career Programs on Display at Showcase of Schools

Parents and students will soon have an opportunity to learn about the 310 Choice Programs offered through the School District of Palm Beach County at the annual Showcase of Schools.  
 
On Tuesday, October 17 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds, representatives from 114 different campuses will be available to answer questions about the strengths and educational opportunities offered at each of their schools.   Read more...

For Kristina Michel of Royal Palm Beach Community High School, being a student in the school's medical academy carries an extra special meaning.
 
Diagnosed with retinoblastoma at the age of 3, Kristina underwent surgery to remove her right eye. As she must continuously undergo check-ups to ensure the cancer doesn't return in her other eye, she understands the importance and significance of quality medical care.
 
"Having retinoblastoma has given me a sense of empathy, because it helps me see from different perspectives," she shares. Read more...

GL Homes Donates $25K to Eagles Landing Middle School
Eagles Landing Middle School recently received a $25,000 donation from GL Homes to fund the purchase of fitness equipment to help reinvent the school's Physical Education program.
 
Joe Peccia, Eagles Landing's Principal, worked extensively with GL Homes to facilitate the donation in order to provide equipment for all students at every level of ability. "When I came to the school last year I just said, let's do this, let's make it happen," Peccia said. Read more...

#ThankATeacherPBC: Acting Assistant Principal at Jupiter Farms Elementary Spearheads Hurricane Relief Drive for U.S. Virgin Islands

When Hurricane Irma whipped through the U.S. Virgin Islands on September 6, the destruction hit especially close to home for Kelly DiGrazia, acting assistant principal at Jupiter Farms Elementary School.
 
Once the island's only kindergarten teacher, Ms. DiGrazia immediately recognized the impact the hurricane would have on her former home of St. John.
 
Her former colleagues that remained on the island during the storm worked countless hours cleaning up tree limbs and rubbish, in addition to mopping up water to make sure that all of the students on St. John would have a place to return to and learn.
 
Understanding the devastation and the long road to recovery ahead, Ms. DiGrazia sprang into action, coordinating an effort with students, staff and families at Jupiter Farms Elementary to send boxes of school supplies to her former school, Gifft Hill. Read more...
