WHAT'S NEW AT THE YW
YWCA OF GREATER MIAMI-DADE
WILL HOST MY MIAMI STORY

On October 17, 2017, we will host our very own My Miami Story. The Miami Foundation launched the My Miami Story initiative in 2016, as a way to foster dialogue among residents about life in Miami.   The conversations center around things that people are passionate about, from transit solutions, to job opportunities, to housing concerns, and everything in between.

We are excited to participate this year by hosting an intimate conversation at our Intergenerational Center. We are committed to eliminating racism and empowering women, and open, honest dialogue about the issues that affect us all is the only way we can achieve our mission!
OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH & THE  YWCA IS COMMITTED
TO EARLY DETECTION

Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, 14,460 new cases of breast cancer will be detected in Florida this year and 2,770 lives will be lost. While advances have been made in prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure, early detection still affords the best opportunity for successful treatment.

The YWCA of Greater Miami-Dade's breast health outreach program helps ensure that all women have access to early detection information and options. We are truly #OnAMission#Pinktober

I N CASE YOU MISSED IT:
WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO @ THE YW

This fall, we've had the opportunity to open our centers up to the community beyond our traditional programming! Weeks after Hurricane Irma has passed, our beautiful city is still picking up the pieces.  We have been honored to open our centers as a safe haven and a resource to the community.

Our CEO Kerry-Ann Royes, also welcomed Delma Noel-Pratt, the first woman to serve as Chief of Police for Miami Gardens, on a tour of our Intergenerational Center. Both women in leadership look forward to partnering together!
WE HOPE YOU ENJOY KEEPING UP WITH WHAT'S NEW @ THE YWCA. WE CANNOT DO IT WITHOUT THE CONTINUED PARTNERSHIPS AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF THOSE THROUGHOUT GREATER MIAMI-DADE.
