Dear KMS parents,

I want to provide you and your child with important details for their return to campus on Tuesday, October 10.  

1.  How will classroom assignments be communicated to students?
A teacher meeting is being held on Monday with all KMS staff so that teachers are aware of the scheduling, classroom assignments and other important logistical details unique to each building.

On Tuesday morning, all students will report to the main gym in their newly assigned location where they meet with the teaching staff.  The staff will take them to their 1st period class where they will receive a building orientation and schedule.

  2.  What technology will be available to students?
Every classroom will be furnished with a computer and projector for instruction.   The building will be equipped with chromebook carts available for class/student use.  

  3.  What if my child still has materials/belongings at the middle school?
If necessary student belongings can be retrieved in the middle school on Tuesday.  Students will have a brief, supervised opportunity during the day to collect these items.  Alternative arrangements will be made as necessary.
 
4.  How do I communicate with the Main Office?
Please contact the building's main phone line for any need, including attendance.

5.  Where will students store materials and/or belongings?
Students will have storage space for materials and/or belongings in their first period classrooms.  A designated area will be provided with coat racks and/or lockers.
 
6.  What will be the procedure for lunch?
Students will be given the option to purchase/charge lunch as usual or pack his/her own lunch.   Sixth grade students will be dining in the KIS cafeteria and will follow the KIS lunch menu.  Due to the limited space at Gardiner Center, students will be dining in assigned classrooms and will have the opportunity to purchase grab n' go style lunches.  Eighth grade students will be eating in the KHS cafeteria and will follow the KHS lunch menu.  All students on the free and reduced-price lunch program will continue to receive their free or reduced-price lunches in their temporary cafeteria.  Students will turn in lunch money to the cashier in their temporary cafeteria.  Parents may also submit lunch account payments online at www.myschoolaccount.com.  
 
7.  Will there be a change to school transportation?
A shuttle system will be in place to transport all students to and from all the school sites.  The KHS Bus Loop will serve as the central transportation hub site.  Each school site will have 5 buses to shuttle the students safely. Although there may be some slight adjustments, the length of the student school day will remain the same.  Student bus pick-up and drop-off times will remain the same.

8.  Where and when is drop-off if a parent chooses to drive?
Students can be dropped off at the same time as usual.
 
At Gardiner :  Parents will enter the main drive from Bainbridge Road, loop around the parking lot and exit out the same main drive.

  At KIS:  Parents will use the same process in place for KIS students. Parents will enter the same drive as used at KMS.  Follow the lane towards the stadium and turn left between the  second row of cars. Drop-off is at the end of this row in front of the KIS main door.  A
faculty member will be present to assist.

At KHS : Parents will use the same process in place for KHS and drop off students at the main  door loop by the flag pole.

9.  Will there be a health aide available?
Yes, all students will be able to access a school health aide and necessary records will be available in the newly assigned building.  Medications will continue to be administered as previously scheduled. If your child has medication at the KMS Clinic they will be move to your student's new location.  Parents may call the main lines listed above to reach the clinic in each building.

10.  How will intervention services be affected?
Although schedules may be adjusted for shared personnel, student intervention services, will continue.  Parents may communicate directly with the assigned special education teacher or the Special Education Department at (440) 543-3013.

11.  Will athletics be impacted?
KMS sports will continue.  Details will be provided by individual coaches.
 
12.  Will KCE activities be interrupted?
KCE events will continue as scheduled, although location changes may be necessary.  The district digital display boards and the KCE website will have updates.  Scheduled participants will receive email notification if the location has changed.  
 
13.  When will the 1st quarter end?
The quarter will end as scheduled on Friday, October 13th.
