SCHOOL NEWS...

School is off to a smooth start and I wanted to provide an update on some of our new features this fall.

ENROLLMENT
St. Anthony is proud to welcome 14 new families to our school this year.  Our current preschool class for 3 year olds is at capacity and interested parties will be on a waiting list.

WHY WE EXIST...
The mission statement of our school is alive and well at St. Anthony of Padua School:

United by faith and service,
St. Anthony of Padua School Community
Forms knowledgeable students
Who are moral and courageous Catholic leaders!

To be sure, ask a student if they know it by heart - even better ask them what it means.

LIVING OUR FAITH - HELPING HANDS FOR HURRICANE HARVEY
The students at St. Anthony of Padua collected over $1400.00 for Hurricane relief.  Funds will be sent to Catholic Charities and the National Catholic Education Association.  In addition, our students and teachers wrote letters of prayers and support for the students and staff at St. Catherine of Sienna School in Port Arthur, Texas, whose school was badly flooded by the hurricane.

TOP FLIGHT TECHNOLOGY
This fall the students at St. Anthony are excited to use our two new Chromebook carts. These 50 new Chromebooks can be used in any classroom thanks to building-wide wireless.  Another great technology enhancement is the acquisition of our 3-D printer - which arrived in May of last year.  All of our students have had an opportunity to design and then build an object with our new printer.

CERTIFIED CATECHISTS teaching the FAITH
St. Anthony is proud to announce that our school teachers have achieved and are current on the Diocesan certification expected to be a "teacher of the faith" in our diocese.  This recognition is achieved through classes and coursework in the areas of Spirituality, Theology and Evangelization. Our newer teachers are in the process of accruing the credits necessary to achieve this distinction.

ST.  ANTHONY - BLANDFORD NATURE CENTER PARTENRSHIP
This school year St. Anthony of Padua begins a three year partnership with Blandford Nature Center.  This opportunity to partner with our new neighbor, allows all of our students an opportunity to experience the science curriculum in a hands on and authentic way. Students in all grade levels will have multiple learning experiences - with a capstone experience in Stewardship.

One of the goals of this partnership is for our students to know and love the creation God has given us and to accept the responsibility that each of us has to be "Good Stewards" of God's creation.  Each year our students will provide an act of service - in stewardship to Blandford and in giving back to God for all He has given us.
See a detailed chart of our programming attached.

MONDAY MORNING KICK START
Starting on 9/11 St. Anthony School students and teachers will gather in the gym each Monday morning for our Monday Morning Kick Start.
MMKS is an opportunity to begin our week with intention and enthusiasm.  It is part of our growth mindset.  It demonstrates that we are excited as learners and leaders to know that Monday begins a new week and we CHOOSE to make it count.  MMKS includes music, prayer, our pledge and mission statement, we will celebrate accomplishments and share good news.
Parents are welcome to join us at 8:00 on Monday mornings!

PET  TAILS  RESCUE

Pet Tails Rescue in Grand Rapids (where Mrs. DeBoer volunteers) will be getting the adoptable dogs from Texas this week.  The rescue is being coordinated through the "Noah Project" out of Muskegon.  The dogs are being flown in.  Volunteers from here then pick up the dogs and they go to rescue organizations all over the state.  Most of the dogs will be 7 months or younger since they have to be in good health to leave Texas.

If you'd like to foster a dog (take care of it until someone adopts it), adopt a dog, or help with supplies, it would be appreciated.
They are in need of baby gates, dog food, puppy pads, dog toys, and of course, prayers for our fur friends health.

You can bring any donated items to the school computer lab and
Mrs. DeBoer will get them to the Rescue.  You can go to:
and can see all adoptable dogs on  the site as well!
