Trans* Issues in College
Our inaugural Joann Fritsche Distinguished Lecture Series in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies of the 2017-2018 year was from Dr. Z Nicolazzo. Hir talk, "Honor Our Dead and Fight Like Hell for the Living," was held on September 19th and attracted over 100 participants.

Upcoming Events
Upcoming talks in the Joann Fritsche Distinguished Lecture Series in WGS include a panel presentation on " Tell Me the Truth: Exploring the Heart of Cross Racial Conversations" on February 7th and Julia Serano on March 22nd speaking on " A Social Justice Activist’s Perspective on Call-Out Culture, Identity Politics, and Political Correctness."

WGS Student Happenings
Women's Resource Center
Thanks to the amazing activist work by current WGS majors, the UMaine Women's Resource Center has been reinstated two years after being defunded and now lives in room 227, Memorial Union. Follow them on Twitter and Facebook .

Student activists are running the WRC on a mostly volunteer basis and are seeking support in any way possible. To volunteer or donate, contact samantha.saucier@maine.edu

Please give to the Ann Schonberger Leadership & Experience Fund. Even just a little can make a difference in the life of a WGS student, sending them to conferences, helping provide needed textbooks, or scholarships.

Regina Rooney, MA '08
Earning her Master’s Degree in English with a concentration in Women’s and Gender Studies in 2008, Regina works as the Education & Communications Director for the  Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence , a statewide nonprofit organization that supports the efforts of our nine member domestic violence resource centers throughout Maine.
