GGAHU Takes Leading Role in Opposing Single-Payer Legislation
Your chapter played a leading role in helping to derail SB 562, the single-payer bill. Immediate-Past President Phil Lee traveled to Sacramento for the Senate's public hearing and was the only insurance broker there to speak against the bill. For his efforts on this and other legislative matters, Phil was recently awarded CAHU's Legislative Excellence Award. GGAHU, CAHU and CAHU-PAC continue to monitor the progress of single-payer efforts and advocate on behalf of the broker community.

Oct. 12 Chapter Meeting: Live from NAHU: It's Been 9 Months -  Has Congress Delivered?
We're fortunate to have a crack team of lobbyists working on our behalf in Washington as Congress wrestles with health care reform. Join us on Oct. 12 for a live webcast from D.C. where we will hear from our legislative team and you will earn 1 CE credit.

During this course, participants will learn about recent legislative and regulatory actions to make significant changes to the Affordable Care Act by Congress and the Trump Administration. The course will examine what actions have been taken so far, what the political and philosophical barriers have been, what actions we can expect in the near-term.

A message to members and friends from  President Cathy Little

I am honored to be selected to serve as the 2017-18 President of Golden Gate Association of Health Underwriters (GGAHU).

When I joined the association seven years ago, I had no idea how much my involvement would contribute to my personal and professional growth.  I have built friendships, gained new business relationships and received encouragement, mentoring and support from colleagues and fellow board members as a result of my membership.  I'm proud of the values our Association stands for and the work we do for our clients and consumers.

This year we are facing uncertainty with federal legislation and changes to the existing Affordable Care Act and the continuing threat of Single Payer in Sacramento. Your membership and involvement is more important now than ever before.  Members have access to resources and expertise through the Association to educate themselves and help them expertly communicate on these complex and critical issues with their clients, colleagues, and elected officials.

GGAHU is committed to preserving the private delivery of Health Insurance and working towards affordable health care options for all.  We continue to adapt and advocate for the health care needs of the public we serve with a working knowledge of how financing and delivery of care work together.  We are committed to providing our members with the highest level of professional development, legislative advocacy and training, and networking opportunities while upholding the highest code of ethics in our field.

If you are already a member, I would like to personally say "Thank You." If you have not yet joined us I'd like to invite you to check us out!  We are an award-winning Chapter with many outstanding and influential leaders.

I look forward to a productive, successful year working with you all.

Best wishes,

Cathy Little, President
