Dear Saint Rose Families,
This week the faculty spent two hours working through our mission statement, and the charisms of the school, which are; Catholic Faith, Moral Virtue, Academic Excellence, Compassionate Community and Servant Leadership. These charisms express the core values of our school community. The faculty spent time reviewing each charism in addition to looking at our areas of strength and areas of possible improvement. It was a positive and collaborative process. The teachers also took their own survey as part of the accreditation process.
I mistakenly sent you the wrong survey to start our accreditation process. If you already took the survey, please consider completing the new survey. Your original comments will be kept and used. If you have not completed the survey, please follow the link
HERE to complete. Your responses are anonymous.
Every year I hear people state that they did not take the survey because they were content with their child's formation. While that is good news, it is also meaningful for everyone to take the survey. Our areas of weakness as well as areas of strength need to be articulated and studied so that we can continue to improve upon our school. The survey does not take long, and while you are encouraged to write comments, you are not required. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Bryon Borgelt

Kindergarten Visits the 577
The Kindergarten classes recently visited the 577 Foundation to learn about nature and apple cider making. Students explored the grounds and investigated nature and then had a chance to turn their apples into cider. Mrs. Gretchen Bechtel, a former Saint Rose teacher, taught the students about cider making. Each student then had an opportunity to grind the apples and help turn them into cider. Everyone then had some donuts and fresh cider. It was a great way to learn about our environment during the fall season.

Alumni News
Jordyn Foos, Saint Rose alum and SUA senior was recently named Commended Student in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program, along with three other classmates.
Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The test assesses college readiness as well as identifies students that may qualify for National Merit Scholarship recognition. According to a spokesperson for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation,
"The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success. These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."
Congratulations, Jordyn!

CONTINUING ADULT FAITH FORMATION
"Too old too soon, too smart too late." That mantra comes to mind every time I
think about how I would have raised my daughters differently had I been more
knowledgeable about my Catholic faith. If I had life to live over again, the one
thing I would invest more time in would be learning and living a more authentic
practice of my Catholic faith as a mother and parent. It is the one investment that
offers eternal rewards." Mary Alice Newnam, St. Rose Parishioner
