Friends and our partners are busy improving nearshore habitat for fish, wildlife and people this fall - and we could use your help!
We're looking for volunteers for restoration projects on Shaw and Lopez Islands in the coming month.
1. Shaw Island Blind Bay Beach Restoration Project: Tues., October 17, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Help remove angular quarry spall rocks to unbury a sand and pea gravel beach at a high priority surf smelt spawning site.
2. Lopez Island Fisherman Bay Spit Wetland Restoration Project: Wed., November 1, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Help Friends and Land Bank staff plant native trees and shrubs along a recently restored coastal wetland.
Please contact Tina at
[email protected] or 360-298-7616 for details. Volunteers will need their own transportation to and from the site. Work gloves provided. Please bring water and wear comfortable clothes and shoes that can get dirty.
