Faculty180 Training for Departments
In addition to public training sessions available via the
Queen's Workshop Registration tool
, the Faculty180 team (Queen's ITS) can provide private training sessions to Faculties and Departments at large. We are happy to deliver the training at a location convenient to you, and can tailor the training to any specific needs or concerns your faculty members may have.
We recommend booking 1.5 hours for these sessions, which will generally cover the following topics:
- navigating Faculty180;
- bulk-importing citation information and publications;
- entering & editing data, with a particular emphasis on the data required for the Annual/Biennial Report;
- previewing existing CV templates (incl. the QUQAP CV) & creating personal CV templates.
- importing/exporting with the Canadian Common CV (CCV) (if applicable)

Think Grad School Social 2017
It's that time of year again. The Think Grad School Social is taking place on
Tuesday, November 21 at the University Club from 4-6:30pm. We were hoping to have the grad chair from each department present along with any students interested in sharing their grad school experience and research. The format this year is changing slightly - we will begin with a short student panel where students will share their experiences and research and we will then move to the usual mix and mingle. If you know of a student who would be a great fit for our panel, please have them contact

Polanyi Awards
Applications are sought from outstanding early career scholars/researchers who are either continuing to post-doctoral studies or who hold a faculty position. Applicants must have received their doctoral degree on or after September 1, 2014. The prizes, valued at $20k, are awarded in each of the Nobel areas: Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Economic Science. Queen's can submit up to three applications per area and complete applications are due in the School of Graduate Studies on or before December 1, 2017. For more details, check out these links:

United Way Campaign
The Queen's United Way campaign has reached 57% of its goal - staff, faculty and students are aiming to raise $320,000 to support the local United Way. Last year, more than 55,000 people benefited from United Way KFL&A funded programs. "Every dollar donated this year helps to make a difference in our community," says Michael Fraser, Vice-Principal (University Relations) and Executive Sponsor of the committee. "For example a $20 monthly donation can provide winter boots for 170 children this winter, while a $50 monthly donation can provide one-to-one support for 63 people living with disabilities."

Reminder: Mandatory Training for Timekeepers
Over the last several months, Human Resources has been working to ensure that vacation taken by employees is accurately entered into the University's Time and Labour System in the Human Resources PeopleSoft System (HRPS), and that overall vacation balances accurately reflect vacation balances owed to employees. As part of the meetings and discussions on vacation reporting with various departments, faculties, and shared service units across the University, there was a clearly identified need for additional training to support Timekeepers in accurately entering time, particularly vacation time in HRPS. As a result, Human Resources will be conducting training for Timekeepers.

Hands-on Training Sessions for Tableau
Tableau has been used
to visualize data about Queen's Student Degree Plan Registrations, Course Enrolments, Classes Taught and Degrees Granted. There are additional Tableau visualizations on secure shared folders on the Queen's Active Directory, accessible by netid logon. Contact
