Highland Pacific Golf's Retail Manager, Jim Ott, seems like a quiet and unassuming character but his history states otherwise.

Growing up in the neighborhood of Inglewood in Calgary, Alberta Jim played various sports including baseball, basketball and football. We was an athletic and competitive young man who loved to play to win. When he broke his arm playing football he took up golf and he became immersed in the game to the point of addiction. Practicing with a fervor that can only be described as 'Hoganesque' Jim became an elite player on the Calgary amateur circuit. He won the Inglewood Club Championship five times, came second in the Calgary City Amateur two years in a row and won several other Men's Open Championships throughout the province of Alberta. Jim was a golfing machine capable of devastating an opponent at will.

In 1993 Jim moved to Victoria to open and operate Golf Plus retail as their store manager. Jim worked with Golf Plus, eventually purchasing a stake in the operation in 2001. In 2005 Golf Plus was contracted by the Plasterer family to be the provider of golf merchandise and equipment to Highland Pacific Golf. This agreement lasted until 2007 at which time the owners of Highland Pacific Golf took over the retail business at the course. Jim has been serving guests of Highland Pacific Golf ever since.

Jim lives a blessed life with his wife, Marie, and two Shih-tzu/Bichon pups, Newmann and Gizmo. He works weekday mornings in the shop so if you are checking in for an early morning tee time be sure to say hi to Mr. Ott. He is sure to make your morning memorable.
