Dakota County leaders tour ProAct HQ

Several Dakota County Commissioners and key leaders from the area governmental body representing more than 400,000 people visited ProAct in Eagan recently and learned more about the valuable services it provides.  
Santa will appear and you can support ProAct Playhouse via Give to the Max on Nov. 16  
A group of overzealous carolers, competing mall Santas and a unique Christmas wish are coming next month via the talented ProAct Playhouse performers.  You can help them out with your support on  Give to the Max Day - November 16.    
 
Your donation helps offset the cost of performance and rehearsal spaces, costumes and props.
 
On each day that you give, between November 1 and 16, you'll be eligible to win a $500 Golden Ticket .  And, one giver will win a Super-Sized Golden Ticket worth $10,000! 
Llama farm in Waconia draws out smiles

A large group from ProAct's Adult Day Services spent the day at Llovable Llama Farm in Waconia, and learned some interesting facts about the fancy-furred creatures.
 

Their defense mechanism is to spit or vomit on would-be attackers, but none of this occurred during the tour day.  Instead, each participant had a chance to lead a llama on a walk down a road and the smiles were a mile-wide!

Quarter century supervisor retires, is missed
Loren Streph, second from left, was wished well by staff and participants.
Production Supervisor Loren Streph spent almost 27 years assisting participants on the Eagan work floor, and is now retired.  "He's always been there to go the extra mile to support them, to help maintain things, equipment-wise,"said Production Manager Jennifer Cavalier.  A breakfast celebration was held in his honor.

In a heartwarming holiday show featuring a cast of actors with disabilities, the ProAct Playhouse is returning to the stage for its latest production, "The Greatest Gift," just days before Christmas.

Come and witness the tale of a group of overzealous Carolers ... Competing Mall Santas .. and a young man with a unique Christmas Wish. When all of these characters get snowed in at a shopping mall on Christmas Eve, they're forced to recognize the gifts we all possess inside ourselves and embrace the true meaning of Christmas!

Holiday lights collection begins this week 

About 20 locations around Dakota County are collecting used Christmas lights for recycling beginning this week.  Watch proacting.org and Facebook for info about locations. The program runs through January 31, 2018.  Lights and other items are processed by individuals with disabilities.
      
Cambodia disability leader, Minn. nonprofit visit Red Wing

A founder and board member of the Disability Support International nonprofit introduced a disability services leader from Cambodia to people at ProAct in Red Wing.

The special visit was an opportunity to ask questions and share ideas about services.  DSI seeks to improve the lives of persons with disabilities in developing countries.
