Llama farm in Waconia draws out smiles
A large group from ProAct's Adult Day Services spent the day at Llovable Llama Farm in Waconia, and learned some interesting facts about the fancy-furred creatures.
Their defense mechanism is to spit or vomit on would-be attackers, but none of this occurred during the tour day. Instead, each participant had a chance to lead a llama on a walk down a road and the smiles were a mile-wide!

Quarter century supervisor retires, is missed

Production Supervisor Loren Streph spent almost 27 years assisting participants on the Eagan work floor, and is now retired. "He's always been there to go the extra mile to support them, to help maintain things, equipment-wise,"said Production Manager Jennifer Cavalier. A breakfast celebration was held in his honor.

When all of these characters get snowed in at a shopping mall on Christmas Eve, they're forced to recognize the gifts we all possess inside ourselves and embrace the true meaning of Christmas!

Holiday lights collection begins this week
About 20 locations around Dakota County are collecting used Christmas lights for recycling beginning this week. Watch proacting.org and Facebook for info about locations. The program runs through January 31, 2018. Lights and other items are processed by individuals with disabilities.

Cambodia disability leader, Minn. nonprofit visit Red Wing

A founder and board member of the Disability Support International nonprofit introduced a disability services leader from Cambodia to people at ProAct in Red Wing.
The special visit was an opportunity to ask questions and share ideas about services. DSI seeks to improve the lives of persons with disabilities in developing countries.
