Sacred Heart High School is so proud of all its graduates. Today, we have alumnae attending Cornell, Brown, Loyola Marymount, and so many other colleges across the nation. We have alumnae working as researchers, lawyers, doctors, teachers, and among many others.

At Sacred Heart, students become women who are empowered, dedicated, and serve others to strengthen themselves, their families, and their communities.  We ask you to reflect on the Dominican education you received, and consider investing in Catholic education at Sacred Heart. Remember, the gift of Catholic education not only impacts students, it has the profound impact to change a family and community for generations to come.  YOU guarantee that the Sacred Heart traditions continue.

Please consider supporting the Comet Scholarship Fund today to help us reach our $1.3 million goal for tuition assistance. Remember, a donation of $25 or any amount, adds up to make a huge difference for students.

Four generations of Comets

Four Generations of Comets

Jade Quiles ( left), 14, carries on the family tradition at Sacred Heart High School. Diane Durazo, her grandmother, Virginia Arguello, her great-grandmother and Stephany Durazo, her mother, all graduated from the all-girls' secondary school in Lincoln Heights. (photo/R.W. Dellinger)

"I used to like typing with Sister [Mary] Flora," said Virginia Arguello, a member of the class of 1943 at Sacred Heart High School, the all-girls secondary school in Lincoln Heights. "I didn't take Spanish because I spoke Spanish all my life. And I was very good at sports. Mostly basketball, volley ball, softball. I loved basketball."

Virginia was sitting around a large square table with her daughter, Diane Durazo, Class of 1970, granddaughter, Stephany Durazo, Class of 1996, and great-granddaughter, Jade Quiles, Class of 2021.

That's right! Four generations at Sacred Heart.

LA Prayer Breakfast 2017
Los Angeles Prayer Breakfast

110 Years of Catholic Education for Women

By: Jacqueline Medina '18

As we arrived at the Cathedral to attend the Los Angeles Catholic Prayer Breakfast on September 19, Rashell and I were both beginning to get nervous and excited. I was nervous due to the fact that Bianca and I would be saying one prayer of the faithful during the mass. Before we knew it, it was our turn to go up and speak -- and we were great! Followed by mass was breakfast with keynote speaker Dr. Scott Hahn. He is a Catholic theologian and professor at the Franciscan University of Steubenville. Dr. Hahn talked about the love of God and the way he protects us. He said that in the Hebrew Scriptures, God the Father is only mentioned 17 times in the whole scripture, however in the New Testament, in the first chapter alone, Father is used 17 times -- Jesus was just getting started. He told us that the love of God is that of the same of a father, who protects his children, even though we might view it as discipline, rather than love and protection. As the Co-President of Campus Ministry, my classmates and I were honored to attend this inspirational Catholic prayer breakfast.

1977: Class Gift

On Saturday, September 23,2017 the "Epics" Class of 1977 came together to share an evening and raise funds for the Comet Scholarship Fund.

1977

Several Epics returned home to Sacred Heart High School on Friday, September 29, 2017 to present a check for $2,050.00 for the Comet Scholarship Fund to our Principal, Mr. Raymond Saborio, and several student representatives.

It was beautiful to see the sisterhood connection between the Comets of 1977 and the Comets of 2018. Stories were shared and advice was given. What a blessing to see the family connection continue. Students from the Class of 2018 gave a special tour to our alumnae who reminisced of the days when they proudly wore their uniform and walked the halls at Sacred Heart.

To participate in the empowerment of "Tomorrow's Catholic Woman" today:

Tomorrow's results are created by today's dreamers. Many people dream of a way to leave a legacy that would help Sacred Heart High School grow into the future. Some find that a good way to accomplish this goal is to designate Sacred Heart as the beneficiary of all or part of a retirement plan or life insurance policy. For further information, please contact Rachel Sanchez in the Office of Alumnae and Development at (323) 225-2209.
