H-F FYI - Oct. 4, 2017

All-School Test Day: Wednesday, Oct. 11
H-F periodically administers standardized exams in order to better understand individual growth, school-wide trends, and to help prepare students for college-entrance exams. On Wednesday, Oct. 11, freshmen, sophomores and juniors will take the tests noted below. Please note that this is an early-dismissal day with students excused at 1:20 p.m. There is also no first period. Check-in and seating for testing will begin by 8:20 a.m.

  • FRESHMEN will take the PSAT 8/9 test.
  • SOPHOMORES will take the Preliminary SAT (PSAT).
  • JUNIORS will take the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The PSAT is a Preliminary SAT exam and - like AP exams - is administered by the College Board. H-F uses the PSAT to determine AP potential. This test is also the qualification test for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
  • SENIORS are not required to attend school on this day. They are invited to use this day to explore colleges and universities, either through in-person visits or online through Naviance.
For more information about testing, please contact the Assessment Department at 708-335-5584.

Last week, students in Mr. Aronson's AP Human Geography class learned about agriculture first-hand as they toured a grain farm owned by farmer Dave Peters and a Manteno dairy farm owned by Dave Surprenant. This annual trip is always a memorable highlight for the class, as both farmers share their experiences of life on a modern-day farm.
