A Message from the Principal
On Wednesday, we found out that a relative of two students at St. John’s was traveling to Puerto Rico to assist the people who have lost everything from the recent hurricanes, including their own family members. Immediately, our school community wanted to help. It was quickly determined that the best way to help these families was to supply flashlights and batteries to them, since they have no electricity and might not for six months to a year! We only had two days to collect these items, and your support was amazing. We collected 156 flashlights! What a great outpouring of God’s love, to people we will likely never even meet.

A prayer was written in Spanish to be given out with each flashlight, reminding the recipients that through the darkness and trials of life, there is a Light that can guide their path. That One True Light is seen only in the person of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 says,
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully [ a ]  will also reap bountifully.  Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

In His Name,
Teri Lyn Mannes, Principal

Eagles in Action
Sixth Grade Eagles in Action Project

During the month of October, sixth graders are collecting stocking stuffers for service members in harm’s way during Christmas. Last year, students brought enough individual stocking stuffers to chapel to fill three boxes. This year, our sewing club members have created stockings that need filling.  Please bring the items listed below to school. Stockings will be distributed to each classroom for filling. When one is filled, bring it to chapel as you would your regular chapel donations. Sixth graders will bring your offerings and donations to Operation Support Our Troops (OSOT) – America, Inc. on October 26, where they will volunteer their time stuffing more stockings for United States Service Members. Items needed most include the following:

* Fruit Snacks / Fruit Rollups (Individual Packs)
*Chocolate Candy Bars / Tootsie Rolls
*Trail Mix (Individual Packs)
*Granola Bars / Rice Krispie Bars
Individual Packs of Cookies
*Starlight Mints, Lifesavers Candies, and Gum
*Licorice / Twizzlers (Individually Wrapped)
*Unbreakable handmade Christmas Ornaments
*Hot Chocolate Packets
*Mechanical Pencils / Pens

Thank you for your support!
3rd Grade Eagles in Action Recap
Thank you for your support of the LaGrange Area Food Pantry through your chapel offerings. We are excited that the chapel offerings for the month of September were $262.28! We divided that by ten months, and we will use about $26.00 per month this school year to buy a monthly featured item. For example, in September we purchased shampoo, and in October we will purchase toothpaste to donate and deliver.  We look forward to building a relationship over the course of the year with this organization that helps those in need in our community.
We also packed Manna Packs at Feed My Starving Children that fed hungry children in body and spirit for Mexico and Haiti. We were part of packing 83 boxes that contained 12, 928 meals which will feed 49 kids for a whole year! Praise God! We had so much fun, too.

TRIP ORDERS

Hello TRIP Customers & School Staff,

We will be placing TRIP orders on Mondays for your shopping needs.

Remember to check the website www.glscrip.com (our new supplier) for any special promotions your favorite retailers may be running.
Remember the all-important upcoming family gatherings you may be planning, seasonal clothes shopping, upcoming holidays, birthdays, anniversaries or if you just plan on dining out or treating yourself, don’t forget to order your TRIP cards!

We would like to start a virtual program, where you can get the scrips on your device or print out certificates with barcodes. This would mean you can order at any time, even waiting in the checkout line at your retailer, and not have to wait for specific order dates or the physical cards. The method to do this is called Presto pay, where you have a user & password and are linked up to Great Lakes Scrip Center. More information is on their website www.glscrip.com , where you can also view short videos about signing up on their system.

Order forms can be found on St. Johns Website, in the school office, or in the church narthex

Please contact St Johns Lutheran School TRIP volunteer coordinators for more information at:
