Hello, Linda here - welcome to our weekly newsletter!

Well the news this week is much more cheery. Laura is now back home resting. She has to have more tests next week but the medication is doing its stuff and she's feeling more like her old self every day. I moved in with Amelie and Jamie while she was in hospital and I hope I've not outstayed my welcome as I've been here for ten days now! It's not exactly been a holiday but there has been lots of waiting about when my services as general housekeeper and child minder weren't required - I've managed to fit in quite a lot of hexagon piecing in that time so that's good news too.

It's been a luxury to sit and sew in daylight for a change - not that I'd recommend the reasons why!

We've been overwhelmed by the messages of support over the last couple of weeks - I can't thank everyone enough for their kind concern. I really hated to keep you waiting for the new video so I'm happy to say it's available today. By hook or by crook we're back in business!

New video workshop on DesignMatters TV
Sketchbook to Stitch: Tulip Panel

This week's video shows how I revisited one of my printed sketchbooks to find inspiration for a new work in fabric and stitch. It was great fun to interpret an idea from the page to the panel!

The video workshop is for members only but if you haven't signed up already we'd love to have you join us now. Just choose 'Membership Videos' from the menu and you'll see 30+ titles in the current playlist. We hope there's something to tempt you there!

From the Archives

In all the drama of recent times we forgot to mention there had been new collections added to the Archive store. We've added two titles that we hope will appeal.

In 'Cardboard Etching' you'll find a collection of 3 video workshops where I'll show you how cardboard can be used to make a simple print plate which can be inked in a similar way to a traditional etching. See how to print from the plate without using an expensive press, and how you can finally tint the print to make each one unique.

3 video workshops:

  • Making the Plate
  • The Printing
  • Colouring the Print

In 'Finding Inspiration' you'll discover a collection of 5 video workshops where Laura will guide you through one approach to finding inspiration for your next project, from sourcing inspirational images to creating interesting, layered sketchbook pages.

5 video workshops:

  • Collecting
  • Seeing
  • Creative Copies
  • Editing
  • Layering

Thank you for catching up with our news this week. It's great to be back with you all!
Love Linda
