Current News
Boathouse Road Will Be Closed Daily 
Boathouse Road will be closed daily from 4:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. through Monday, January 1, 2018 during the operation of Sweet Lights. 
 
Hershey Entertainment Complex Safety and Security staff will be assigned to the road closure points at Boathouse Road/Route 39 and Boathouse Road/Sandbeach Road (west of the park entrance). Signage will be in place to facilitate the road closure. 
Police Department to Hire a Part-Time Dispatcher
The Township of Derry Police Department is currently accepting applications for a part-time dispatcher for the communication center.
Applicants for this position must be well organized with strong verbal skills and have the ability to perform multiple tasks under stressful situations. Must possess good penmanship, computer knowledge/skills, and an aptitude to make quick decisions and think independently, as well as follow orders.

Gizmo Guys Present "Objects in Motion"
 Children's Program
Sunday, November 12, 2:00 p.m.
Combine world-class juggling skills, solid links to science and math, mix it with lots of comedy, and you have the Gizmo Guys. With unbelievable teamwork and cooperation, this duo, which has been performing for over 20 years, will amaze the audience with their mastery of patterns, gravity, symmetry, and fun! No registration is required. This program is part of the  Friends Children's Series  and will be held at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue.

"Writing a Book and Where to Begin" to be Presented by Dr. John Benedict

World Kindness Day is Monday, November 13
In recognition of World Kindness Day, the We Matter Mental Health/Suicide Prevention Outreach Coalition will present a private showing of the movie Wonder on Sunday, November 19, at 4:30 p.m. at the Elizabethtown Theater. The cost is $7.00 per ticket. Email wemattercoalition@gmail.com to reserve tickets. Advanced payment is required by November 12.
The PTO and Cocoa Packs to Work with Toys for Tots to Collect Toys for Derry Township Students
The Hershey Elementary PTO, Hershey Middle School PTO, Cocoa Packs, and Toys for Tots are partnering this holiday season to collect and distribute toys for students in need within Derry Township.
New, unwrapped toys can be placed in the collection boxes at the ECC, Elementary and Middle schools during the month of November.
The Sweetest Walk That You Will Ever Take 
The Presbyterian Women of Derry Presbyterian Church will hold its popular Cookie Walk and jumbles shop from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2 in the fellowship hall at Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 East Derry Road, Hershey. 

A variety of home-baked cookies including gluten-free will be for sale by the pound, and customers can mix and match to create an assortment of their favorites. Some cookies and baked goods will be individually priced.
The jumbles shop will feature previously owned jewelry, a large assortment of Christmas decorations, handmade gifts and other small items. Proceeds will support the mission work of the Presbyterian Church. 

A red and white quilt in the Dresden plate pattern, handmade by the quilters of Derry Church, will be offered as a silent auction item. The minimum bid for this double-size (90”x75”) quilt is $300. 

In case of snow, the cookie walk will be held on Saturday, December 9.
