HONORS:
On Saturday, October 21, Alexander Dillard '19 was awarded the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad (FRS) Junior Member of 2017.  This honor was bestowed upon him by FRS Junior Advisor Sandy Holland. For more on this story, click here
 
POETRY SLAM:  English teacher Mike Herring and his junior-level English classes hosted a poetry slam on Friday night, October 20, in the auditorium.  It was a big success and well attended.  Interspersed amongst the juniors, who read their original poems, were other students telling stories or showcasing their musical talents.  To view videos from this evening: Part One and Part Two.
 
COLLEGE COUNSELING: Congratulations to the following seniors on their college acceptances: Spencer Cadieux (Lynchburg College and Roanoke College), Jack Cline (University of Louisville), Tyler Wills (University of Alabama) and Mark Yee (Campbell University).
 
College counselor Amber Wilkins met with seniors on Wednesday to help them complete applications. She will also meet with parents of juniors on Saturday, October 28, at 10AM in the auditorium.
 
ATHLETICS:
The mountain bike team participated in the 13th Annual Paranormal Race, sponsored by the Charlottesville Racing Club, on Saturday, October 21. Participants were encouraged to wear costumes, and our team rose to the occasion.
 
The cross country runners finished second during a four-school meet at VES on Saturday, October 21.  Team scores were as follows:  VES 29, BRS 38, New Covenant 65 and Carlisle NS.
