The Other Side of a PAWS Visit
|
|
I wanted to share that I certainly had great experiences being on the other side of a PAWS visit recently.
Luke and I visit with PAWS at Christiana Care. We are on leave now as I was diagnosed with stage 3 throat and neck cancer in July. I had surgery in August and now have had 3 chemo treatments and 5 radiation sessions. I have a long way to go and can't wait to get back to visiting.
I was at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center when Christine Lewandowski and Spirit visited the infusion center. And the week before that, Petey, the big dog with the circle around his eye, and Billy Cycyk visited. The staff, patients, and families truly loved the visits.
I want
PAWS volunteers to know what a positive impact they make minute by minute.
By, the way, Luke has a new sister - Libby!

Calling all PAWS therapy teams who have attained close to or over 100 visiting hours -
You are eligible for our highest certification, the Master's Certificate.
There are a few other requirements to make sure you are a well-rounded PAWS team, but this level of certification is easily attainable with a little work and some fun.
Please contact Lynne for more info - she will help you figure out what you have to do to complete your requirements and achieve this distinction.

Want to volunteer?
Volunteers are still needed for this fun event in two roles. 1) To bring their certified
therapy pets to interact with attendees
2) To work at the information table and hand out book fair vouchers (without a pet)
