Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope you have all had a great week. We had a great time at the Faculty/Student Volleyball game yesterday. The faculty tied the undefeated 8th grade team 1 game to 1. The students enjoyed seeing the staff in a different atmosphere. Great job all around.

Second marking period begins Monday. First marking period grades will be posted next Thursday. Please check on the Home Access Center to review your child's grades. There were a couple of questions around "Benchmark Assessments." A quick note of clarification. The Quarterly (Benchmark) Assessment counts as any other end of unit "Summative" Assessment. Students have a minimum of three each marking period. The difference between any other Summative Assessment and the Quarterly Assessment is that the Quarterly allows to teachers to see the content knowledge of each student for the marking period. They take the information and use it to adjust both upcoming lessons and lessons for next year.

Back to sports meeting: Wednesday will be a parent information night for winter sports. If your child will be playing a winter sport, please attend this meeting.

Book fair: This week is Northley's book fair. Students will be called up throughout this week; however, we will also have the book fair open the following week during conferences.

Support those impacted by Harvey: Northley is partnering with a district in Aransas Pass Tx. Please see the attached flier for more details. Remember, our goal is to purchase 1,600 t-shirts so we can provide every student in the district with a matching t-shirt. Thank you in advance for your support.

Have a great weekend,

Hurricane Harvey Relief

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Northley is partnering with one of the hardest hit school districts in southern Texas. Aransas Pass ISD was devastated by Hurricane Harvey. The middle school was the hardest hit and they are still not fully back in the building. I have been in contact with the principal of their early education center and elementary school. He reports that they have students who lost all but the clothes on their back.
While the district has received donations of supplies, there are many other needs, and that is where we can help.

We are offering Hurricane relief T-Shirts for purchase. With each T-Shirt purchased, you will receive a "Stronger Together" shirt for yourself, a matching shirt that will be sent to students in Aransas Pass, and $5 will be sent to the district to help their student and service clubs/programs (National Jr/Sr Honor Societies, Student Council, band, and others) this year.

The district services approximately 1,600 students from k-12. Our goal is to sell 1,600 shirts, enough to supply each student in the district a matching shirt. Your help in spreading the word through social media is important. With only 800 students at Northley, we need your help to achieve our goal. Please submit your form and money to the main office, mail it to the school, or send with your child to school. Please consider purchasing more than one T-shirt for other members in your family.

We will be closing the purchase window Friday, Nov 17th.

Thank you in advance for helping us help others!
