This Week at Christ Church
Anticipation!

     By Ann Enkiri

Children excel at anticipation.  Shortly after blowing out this year's birthday candles, they are counting down the days until their next birthday.  They begin planning their Halloween costumes shortly after Labor Day.

For children, the anticipation of Christmas-the supernova holiday-has already begun. We in the Children's Ministry share their excitement and seek to channel their anticipation towards the Nativity of the Christ Child.  Focus on the beautiful story of Christ's birth turns our hearts and minds towards Bethlehem.

We will begin sign-ups for this year's Christmas Pageant on Nov. 19th-in person and via email to Ann Enkiri ([email protected]).  We invite all parish children and their friends (Nursery through Grade 5) to participate in the Pageant on Dec. 17th during the 10 AM Service. We have a place for everyone:  there is plenty of room at this inn!  Please, join us in "getting ready"!

Stewardship Campaign for 2018

Thank you so very much to those who have submitted your pledge to the church for 2018! This week, the Stewardship Committee will be contacting folks we have yet to hear from - it's not too late to get a pledge in for 2018!

The Vestry will be considering the 2018 budget this month based on the pledges we receive.  We encourage folks who have yet to submit a pledge for 2018 to do so as soon as possible.

If you have any questions about the stewardship process, or giving to Christ Church, please contact Brad Christmas [email protected]

A prayer for those in the armed forces of our country

Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We are Christ Episcopal Church Kensington

By Ken Amaditz
At its last meeting, the Vestry approved a proposal from the Communications Committee to use "Christ Episcopal Church Kensington" as the church's name for all internal and external communications.  The main driver for the change was that our official/legal name (Christ Church Parish Kensington) does not identify the church as Episcopalian and many people now do not know what "parish" means!  It will take some time to roll out the change, and neither the legal name of the church nor the website will change.  In the meantime, please spread the word about the change and about Christ Episcopal Church Kensington.
