Employer confidence rebounds in September
Massachusetts employers are as optimistic as they have been all year about the overall economy and prospects for their own businesses. The Associated Industries of Massachusetts Business Confidence Index broke a two-month slide in September, rising 1.2 points to 62.4. The reading equaled its high for 2017 and was 6.5 points better than a year ago. Read more here.

Cape & Plymouth Business is pleased to announce the return of our annual Giving Guide. Each year the guide is publishing in December and inserted and mailed with the December issue of Cape & Plymouth Business magazine as well as mailed to a select group of homes on the South Shore and Cape Cod. The goal of this publication is to raise awareness and give businesses the kind of information they need to commit resources to nonprofit institutions, both time and money. Cape Housing Institute set to kick off in October
This month, Housing Assistance Corporation (HAC) and Community Development Partnership (CDP) will launch the Cape Housing Institute, a collaborative effort between the two nonprofits to provide municipal officials with the resources needed to boost the production of affordable housing throughout the region . Cape Cod Oyster Company buys historic shellfish grant
Cape Cod Oyster Company, the largest single-source oyster producer in Massachusetts, has purchased Atlantic Oyster LLC's 23-acre aquaculture grant, which was established in 1877 in East Falmouth and believed to be the oldest of its kind in Massachusetts . Read more here. 
Mass. Labor Secretary Acosta urges a focus
on building skills
Massachusetts Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development Rosalin Acosta told members of MassEcon that the Commonwealth has become a more attractive place to do business, and said the Baker administration is focusing on attracting more businesses to Massachusetts. She said it is also working to determine which skills are in short supply and facilitating worker training, spreading the economic success felt in Eastern Massachusetts around the rest of the state, and promoting diversity in companies' ranks .
