"The Space Between"

We received many requests for links to the various stories and readings that we shared during the service this past Sunday, October 1. The conversations I held afterwards in the receiving line were rich in personal stories and curious questions about how we can be more inclusive to embrace all identities. Part of these conversations related to the language we use when referring to people with non-binary gender identities. So we've also included a guide for writing about transgender people. This is a great starting place to help orient ourselves to more inclusive language that embraces the full gender spectrum.

With gratitude,

Andre

Seeing - by Martha Dallas

When I see me who do I see?
When I see you who do I see?
When you see you who do you see?
When you see me who do you see?

What about me do I let myself see?
What about me do I let you see?
What about you do you let me see?
What about you do you let yourself see?

What about me do I fear you might see?
What about you do I fear you might see?
What about you do you fear I might see?
What about me do you fear I might see?

What about me do I wish you would see?
What about you do I wish you would see?
What about you do you wish I would see?
What about me do you wish I would see?

What we are after when you and I see
When I truly see you and you truly see me
Is the clear honest truth of ourselves when we're free
