The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach  is proud to present the upcoming AIDS Walk Long Beach. The 2017 walk will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017, and will kick off at 8am at Bixby Park before a beautiful finish at The Long Beach Museum of Art. All proceeds from AIDS Walk Long Beach benefit Long Beach organizations serving members within our local community.

Since its founding, AIDS Walk Long Beach has raised millions of dollars to support those most vulnerable and most in need served by Long Beach-based organizations. Funds raised support critical prevention services including free condoms, HIV and STI testing, food pantry support, case management,PrEp and PEP counseling, medication support, and social and support groups in multiple languages.

The Center

This outdoor viewing is FREE to attend and is in the parking lot behind The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach. Some refreshments will be available, and we recommend you bring a blanket and lounge chair to sit on.

Turning (2012) is a documentary musical art film by video artist Charles Atlas and musician ANOHNI (of the band Antony & The Johnsons). The film focuses on 13 women across the gender, sexuality, and performance spectrum who rotate slowly on a turntable platform, behind ANOHNI and her band during their live tours spanning between 2004-2006.

In celebration of LGBTQ history month, the whole community is invited to come out for a free LGBTQ community picnic! Your favorite local LGBTQ organizations are partnering with Vice Mayor Rex Richardson for an afternoon in Houghton Park with fun for the whole family! This event is absolutely free and everyone is welcome.

There will be free food and beverages, a photo booth, face painting, drag princesses and more!
LGBTQ History Month Celebration
Saturday, October 14, 12-4pm
 
Join us for an afternoon celebration of LGBTQ history, including:

- 12:00pm Drag Queen Story Hour ft. Xochi Mochi
- 1:00pm Community Room showcasing queer art      space & resource sharing
- 2:00pm LGBTQ History Timeline Workshop hosted    by GSA Network

Wednesday, October 18, 4-7pm

The Center Mental Health Services and RADD (Resilience Against Depression Disparities) present a movie screening and discussion. 

We will be watching Moonlight and conversing about the film's theme and messages. 

The event is free! Pizza and Refreshments will be available throughout the screening.

Saturday, October 21

This one day event will focus on self-identified cis, trans and gender non-conforming men's multi dimensional approach to wellness. Come and participate in workshops, listen to guest speakers, and panelists presenting on relevant health and wellness topics for 2017.  The summit will provide sessions that will cover o ccupational support, p hysical health, e motional well-being, s piritual awareness, i ntellectual wellness, and s ocial networks.

FREE Continental Breakfast and Lunch will be provided to all registered participants.

Supportive Parenting Group
This group is designed to provide peer support for parents and caregivers of LGBTQ-identified individuals. Group sessions are led by a Mental Health facilitator from the LGBTQ Center. Groups are offered in both Spanish and English.

Groundwork Fitness Parklet Fundraiser
J oin Groundwork Fitness for a fundraiser at the Art Theatre. All proceeds from donations, ticket sales and the silent/live auction will benefit their vision for the Groundwork Fitness Parklet. 

Donations $1,000+ will have their corporation name burned into the wood area of the parklet.

Pumping Iron will be the documentary shown.
