We continue to pray for those in Texas, and those who mourn...
God, once again we turn to you as our hearts, with those of the rest of the ELCA, and the nation, break in sorrow over the senseless violence in Sunderland Springs, Texas. We pray for the victims and families, and for peace:  "O God, it is your will to hold both heaven and earth in a single peace. Let the design of your great love shine on the waste of our wrath and sorrows, and give peace to your church, peace among nations, peace in our homes, and peace in our hearts; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. ( Evangelical Lutheran Worship )

And on this Veterans Day weekend, we pray for our veterans and those who serve...
Almighty and ever-living God, we give you thanks for the men and women who have served and defended our country and the values of freedom and justice we hold so dear. Help us be mindful of the sacrifices they made and the hardship endured by their families and friends, so that we never take for granted the privileges they have secured for us.  Amen. (ELW)

Baptism of Addison Quinn
We celebrate those preparing for baptism this season, especially the family of Addison Quinn Reilly, who will be baptized this Sunday.

Please keep Addie, parents Meaghan and Jenny, and her whole family in your prayers as they commit to caring for Addison's life of faith as a beloved child of God. We thank God for such a joyful blessing in our midst!

Adoption Sunday -- November 12th
November is National Adoption Month. We celebrate that God creates families in many ways and that God adopts us as God's children.  United into one family with Jesus Christ, we lift up families formed through adoption, fostering, blending, and other ways, too.

We encourage everyone to bring in a picture of their family to worship that weekend so the picture can be placed around the Lord's Table as we share communion together.
Stewardship for this year and beyond
Last weekend, we heard from our Finance committee and many of you completed your 2018 financial pledge for the mission and ministry of ELC. Thank You!

For those of you still praying and discerning, we hope that you will  plan to make your 2018 pledge. Along with our actual giving for 2017, completing your pledge card helps us create a wise and realistic budget for 2018.

Please complete a stewardship pledge card and place it in the offering plates during worship this weekend.  Thank you for taking the time to pray and listen for God's response, and for your faithful and continued support of the mission of ELC.

Sunday School
This month, we're collecting money to provide chicks, sheep, and pigs to families in need around the world. We've already raised $125 so far! With only two weeks left, help us fight hunger and give this weekend!!

Christmas Musical rehearsal is in full swing! We rehearse our speaking parts during part of Sunday School and our songs on Tuesdays at 5pm with the Children's Choir.

We're still looking for some generous donors to make the Sunday School parlor more hospitable with a few more seats and tables for our parents and students. Contact Pastor Christina to help.
Glancing Back & Looking Ahead
  • For those who came to Monastero's last Sunday, thank you! It was a wonderful occasion of fellowship! Monastero's was thrilled that ELC remembered them and all they did to make our luncheons and fundraisers successful. After 55 years, Monstero's is closing their doors. We wished them success in their new endeavor, and Arrivederci!  - Carol Beu, Mary Hedeen, Karen Newton
  • This weekend, ELC youth join 250 youth and adults for a synod-wide lock-in at Enchanted Castle. Please keep these youth and the adults in your prayers.
  • Need dinner ideas for Tuesday, November 14th? Hop over to Graziano's for a bite and 20% of the proceeds will go to New Hope Food Pantry. Click  HERE for more info.
  • Next weekend, we will bless our prayer shawls and lap blankets. Remember that we have many of these available for anyone who wishes to take one for themselves or someone you're visiting this holiday season.
  • Next Sunday, November 19th, we'll have a noisy offering with our Sunday School students as they raise funds for people in need through ELCA Good Gifts. So bring ALL your loose change (and loose bills) to help us fight hunger!
Candy Cane Lane is only 2 weeks away!
Sunday, November 26th
1pm-3pm

This Children's Christmas shop is intended to give children a chance to get a head start on their holiday shopping and shop for up to 4 people in their lives.

Children are given money by their parents for gifts between $1-$10, and with the help of a specially trained "elf", children create a gift list, formulate a budget and shop with their elf who guides them through the store.

This ELC event helps children share the spirit of giving with their family, and benefits our youth mission trips. Please share this joyful event with friends, and t alk with Pastor Christina, Ruth Ann Chaffee, or Johanna Danz if you would like to help with set-up, donations, or welcoming our guests and their families.

CILA Home Outreach Project Complete!
Happy to report that Phase I of our CILA Home Outreach project is complete!

New vinyl plank flooring has been installed in the entry way, hallway and dining  room for the residents in the Artesian location.  This has been a much-needed  rehab for this location. Check out these pictures of progress.

Our plan for Phase II is to rehab the kitchen which will  involve new flooring, cabinets, and countertops.  Working with LSSI, we are  applying for a small grant from Home Depot, and hopeful that our request  will be accepted.  We will be back at this in the Spring.  Stay tuned.

Holiday Food Drive
Last year, with your help, New Hope Community Food Pantry provided people inneed with the fixings for their Thanksgiving and Christmas meals.  They anticipate distributing food to 225 families for each holiday in 2017. This year, they need:

Boxed Stuffing Mix +  Cake and Brownie Mixes
Cornbread Mix (Jiffy) +  15oz cans of Sweet Potatoes/Yams/Corn

Monetary gifts are also appreciated to offset costs of gift cards which will be distributed.  The pantry gives out $10 gift cards so that their clients can purchase their selection of turkey, ham or whatever their family prefers.

There is a collection bin next to the cupboard in Fellowship Hall to drop off items.
