MBX and MBEF host a ribbon-cutting ceremony
for the new West Field!
On a beautiful day last week, the new West Field was officially recognized by a delegation that included Costa Principal Ben Dale, MBUSD Superintendent Mike Matthews, MB/X Foundation founder Gary Wayland, school district officials, Board of Education trustees, the Costa band, choir and cheerleaders, as well as excited coaches and residents. The Costa Choir led the National Anthem, Cheer performed and representatives from Costa’s award winning Marching Band led attendees to form the word Mustangs on the field for a celebratory photo taken by drone. The field is a terrific enhancement to Costa sports and extracurriculars, and will be actively used and appreciated for years to come.
Congratulations to Boys Water Polo on a great season!
Costa Boys Water Polo finished the season undefeated in Bay League, and with a 21-10 overall record. They defeated Ventura High School in the 1st round of CIF playoffs and then faced Agoura High School this past Saturday.  READ MORE
Costa rallies, but ultimately loses to Redondo in final minutes.
First round CIF Game is Friday!
Last week, Costa Football played rival Redondo Beach on Friday night. The Mustang football team spotted their crosstown rivals from Redondo Beach to a 2-20 lead in the 3rd quarter. However this Mustang team has plenty of fight in them as they scored 21 points to give Costa a 23-20 lead with only 3:42 left in the game. READ MORE
Cross Country Boys Varsity Team captures Bay League Title!
The Costa Cross Country Team closed out their regular season competition last week at Bay League Finals where the Boys Varsity, Boys Freshmen and Girls Freshmen teams were crowned Bay League Champions.

Marching Band has Strong Showing in
Simi Valley Spectacular and Hart Rampage!

The Mira Costa Marching Band and Colorguard had two strong
performances in tournaments these past weeks.
On Oct. 28th, at the Simi Valley High School Spectacular, they placed 1st in Auxiliary, 3rd in Percussion and 2nd in Band, as well as winning the Sweepstakes Award for High Visual Effect and High Visual Performance with their field show, “Outside the Bachs”. READ MORE
Costa Baseball hosts annual Halloween game!
The Mira Costa Baseball Team held its Annual Halloween baseball game at the freshly-turfed Varsity field on Halloween. Players donned costumes and played “backwards”, hitting the ball in their opposite stance and running bases in the opposite direction.
 
The Diviners 
opened last weekend to rave reviews! 
Everyone attending was touched by the wonderfully complex, deeply moving story. Set in the fictional town of Zion during the Great Depression, The Diviners is the tale of a widowed farmer raising his son Buddy, whose brain was damaged at age 4 during a near drowning in which his mother died trying to save him.  READ MORE

LAIMUN XXIII, BruinMUN, and Montreal!
Throughout the past week, the advanced classes of Mira Costa Model UN recounted the lessons they learned from the previous conference, Edison, in a tradition known as “Good of the Order.” In this practice, students share stories from their committees in front of the class and listen to others in their stories. This past week, advanced students have continued to debate the Social and Economic Development in Central America and the Caribbean and the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict. READ MORE
Girls Tennis wins 1st Round CIF, but fall to University High
in 2nd Round
In a battle of the #6 and #11 ranked teams in SoCal, the #11 ranked Mustangs
managed to win three sets. In singles, Audrey Vo (MC) won one set in
first position 6-3. In doubles, Olga Nagy/Kacey Feng (MC) won two sets in
first position 6-3 and 6-0.
Cheer celebrates Senior Night!
Costa Cheer celebrated Senior Night at the last home football game, and it was a huge success!
Families of the Senior class cheerleaders celebrated on the football field pregame.
 
The Mira Costa Girls Basketball ​
is in full swing.
The girls are looking forward to a great season and have been practicing, conditioning and bonding. One of the most popular is coming up this Friday! The Mini Mustang Basketball Camp for children Kindergarten through 5th Grade will be held on Friday, November 10th in the Main Gym. READ MORE

Vocal Ensemble to perform at
MB Pier Lighting
Mira Costa’s Vocal Ensemble students will perform at the upcoming 28th Annual Manhattan Beach Pier Lighting, which will take place Wednesday, November 15th, 6:00 pm-9:00 pm, at the base of the pier. Singing at the pier lighting is an annual tradition for the Vocal Ensemble students, and everyone is welcome to attend.
Come celebrate the the holidays by listening to VE students singing songs of the season! Hope to see you there!
