Just A Reminder...
November 10, 2017

Dear Saint Rose Families,

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of having Deacon Dan Brahier celebrate Mass with us.  Dr. Deacon Dan Brahier, as his students affectionately call him, thanked the students for their prayers, support and cards for his ordination.  He said that he spent hours reading all of their individual cards and that he was greatly moved by their compassion.  His homily focused on the "cheese" that the world is built upon.  Everything comes from the cheese.  The cheese is from the
Farmer in the Dell, which he got the younger grades to join in a sign along.  Deacon Brahier brought the rest of the grades along with his transition that the cheese is love.  Love is at the base of our faith and all that we do.  It was a positive and powerful message and I hope that your children remember what he shared.  Ask them to sign a few stanzas of
Farmer in the Dell this weekend and ask the what the cheese is?

Sincerely,

Bryon Borgelt

Class Mass for Preschool/Kdg Readiness Nov. 12

The third Class Mass will be held on Sunday, November 12 at the 9:00 am Mass .  Families with Preschool and Kindergarten Readiness age children are invited to worship together and to gather for a light reception to socialize in the Sacred Heart Center (school cafeteria) following Mass .  This is a wonderful time to strengthen or create bonds of Christian friendship.  This is open to all parishioners and school families.

Please click here to RSVP with the number who will be attending so that pews can be reserved in the front near the Saint Joseph altar and so that food can be provided.   You can also sign up for your family to bring up the Offertory gifts or to be Greeters before Mass .  Alternatively, you may RSVP with your family name and number of attendees by emailing Anne Brahier at brahier@saintroseonline.org.

The response to the first Class Masses has been very positive.  The Parish/School Relations Subcommittee hopes that many families from the school and parish will attend on November 12 !

This year's Preschool Grandparent's Day included a "Soup in a Jar" project. It was such a hit with our students and visitors, we thought we would share the recipe with you! Enjoy!

FAIR TRADE SALE TO BENEFIT GLOBAL POVERTY
NOV. 18 & 19

As Eighth graders at Saint Rose School, we have been assigned a PBL project in Religion class. PBL stands for Project Based Learning, and the goal is to tackle a real world problem.  Our class's driving question is "How Can we Help Build the Kingdom of God on Earth?".

We have chosen to help people in poor countries through Fair Trade. Fair Trade works to insure that people in other countries get the amount of money they deserve for items that they are trying to sell. "In addition to beautiful jewelry, home decor and gifts they won't find anywhere else" (Fair Trade's website), the impact that that your purchase makes today is great. Your purchase gives people great dignity which is important for every human being.  This program is sponsored by Catholic Relief Services.

We are hosting a table in the church basement after the Masses on November 18 and 19 at the Altar Sodality Holiday Craft Sale. We hope that you are generous in purchasing beautiful hand-made items perhaps as gifts for Christmas or Sacraments so that the people in poorer countries can live better lives. Please help us to fight global poverty and take action now! We will be here after all the Masses. Thank You.

From Student Council

Everyone loves a friendly competition and when it's for a good cause, it's even better! Student Council is putting the Lower Elementary vs the Upper Elementary/Middle School against each other to see who can bring in the most non-perishable food to donate to PCU Food Bank. The competition will end on November 17.  Bring in your non-perishable items and see who will earn an alternate dress day!

3rd Grade Visits Sauder Village

The Saint Rose Catholic School third graders recently visited Sauder Village.  They learned about pioneer life, and were able to see what school and chores at home were like.  They were also able to help churn butter, tear herbs to make soup, and bring in wood for the fire.  The students saw the Trading Post, General Store and Grist Mill.  All agreed that pioneer life was much more difficult than life now.

November Collection

One of the Corporal Works of Mercy is to Bury the Dead.  Last year Saint Rose School began a Saint Rose Cemetery Fund to help offset burial costs for families who cannot afford burial.  Alternate dress day collections and weekly Mass collections during the month of November will be donated to the Saint Rose Cemetery Fund that is sponsored by the school children.
Thank you for your generosity!

CONTINUING ADULT FAITH FORMATION

"Too old too soon, too smart too late." That mantra comes to mind every time I
think about how I would have raised my daughters differently had I been more
knowledgeable about my Catholic faith. If I had life to live over again, the one
thing I would invest more time in would be learning and living a more authentic
practice of my Catholic faith as a mother and parent. It is the one investment that
offers eternal rewards." Mary Alice Newnam, St. Rose Parishioner
