I spent the last week helping clear out my childhood home. Mom and Dad moved into it in 1951.  It wasn't as hard as I thought it might be. It was a weird experience staying in a hotel in my hometown, while seeing the house get more and more empty. I realized it was easier for me because Seabeck is my home now. I have lived and worked here for 27 years. I have been on the West side longer than the East. It reminds me of the C.S. Lewis quote from the Last Battle: " I have come home at last! This is my real country! I belong here. This is the land I have been looking for all my life, though I never knew it till now." I think I knew it before now, but it's nice to be home!

We are hosting the Kitsap Historic Society's Milltown Christmas again on December 10th. I have had a couple of people tell me they are interested in a Friends of Seabeck Weekend during that time. We had to cancel the last one due to low numbers. I realize that is tough time of year to get away, but others like the break.   Please let me know what you think. I also need some help with the Pines Capital Campaign. It is rolling along and we have started asking foundations for help. They like to see major progress toward the goal before they fully commit, so I need a couple of things:

1)  If you are thinking about donating, now is a great time. You can almost think of it as a foundation matching your money.

2)   Host a Seabeck night at you house, church, or party room. It is a great way to see Seabeck friends and show them the wonderful things going on here.

I made to the end of my article without mentioning the Cougars. Oh wait, did I not mention we are undefeated and #11 in the country? That must have been an oversite on my part.  HAHA I do have my voice back form the thrilling win over USC last Friday. It's a good year for Seabeck and WSU. GO COUGS!
