Congratulations to Zone 3 Members Selected for the EAP National Training Session!
Congratulations to Zone 3 athletes who were selected for the 2017 Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session.

Kelsey Campbell , 17, of Great Falls, Va., was selected to ride in the session.  

Michael Golinowski , 16, of Burke, Va., who was selected to attend as a stable manager, and Sydney Eller, 18, of Ferguson, N.C., was selected as an alternate stable manager.

The EAP National Training Session will be November 9-12 at the George M. Humphrey Equestrian Center at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. 

Athletes will learn from clinicians Peter Wylde and Anne Thornbury at the session.

Maverick Helmer Wins Inaugural USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Finals - East at Capital Challenge

After three testing phases and a challenging work-off, Maverick Helmer, 16, of Roanoke, Virginia, rose to the top of the field in the inaugural USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Finals - East, held Sept. 29-30 during the Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, Md. 

"As an inaugural class, I think it's absolutely awesome that I'm the first to win," said Helmer. "It's something special to keep, and, of course, it's my first major championship win, so that will always be close to my heart." Click here to read more.

WIHS Regional Horse Show Upper Marlboro, Md.

Qualifying Criteria:  Letters of invitation to compete in USHJA Zone 3 Championships will be emailed or mailed in mid-September. Approximately the top 20 horses in each section, based on total USEF zone points, will be invited. The qualifying period includes shows starting on or after December 1, 2016, through shows starting on or before August 31, 2016. Exhibitors will be given one week to accept the invitation. Additional horses will be invited, if invitations are not accepted.  Horses, ponies and riders participating in the USHJA Zone 3 Championships on Sunday also may compete in the WIHS Regional Horse Show.

The award recognizes two committed horse show staff members (one from each coast) who often work behind the scenes but are essential to the success of horse shows.

Congratulations to the World Championship Hunter Rider members who pre-qualified for WCHR Challenge classes at the 2017 Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, which runs through October 8!  Good luck to all the riders!

Congratulations and good luck to Zone 3's Taylor St. Jacques, 17, of Glen Allen, Virginia, representing our zone at the 2017 Neue Schule/USEF National Junior Jumper Championships (Prix des States) October 12-14 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania! St. Jacques is riding Qantor des Estisses. Sandra Ruiz will be leading St. Jacques as chef d'Equipe.
