World Teachers Day (internationally on October 5) was celebrated in the last week of October here in Australia to align with local education events. Educators are amazing passionate, individuals and your contribution to schools and the wider community is recognised.
World Teachers' Day 2017 was celebrated under the theme "Teaching in Freedom, Empowering Teachers", when teacher empowerment was reaffirmed as a top priority for education. All teachers at Foundation, Primary, and Secondary and in higher education are recognised for professional expertise, skills, and pedagogical competence. World Teachers' Day commemorates the 20th anniversary of the 1997 UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher-Education Teaching Personnel.
ACHPER has also been active in responding to the Department of Education and Training independent review "The Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools" issues paper.
Asia-Pacific Journal of Health, Sport and Physical Education: Name change in 2018

ACHPER, we are keen to make you are aware of an upcoming change to the
Asia-Pacific Journal of Health, Sport and Physical Education.
Following considerable negotiation and consultation we will be implementing a name change for the Journal. From the beginning of 2018, the Journal will be re-named as
Curriculum Studies in Health and Physical Education. Both the
ACHPER and Editorial Executive teams believe that this change will better define and widen the target audience of the Journal.
BLOG: Creative Movement in HPE: A great way to include!
Sir Ken Robinson (2009) sees creativity as applied imagination. Where the imagination is used to make something new, come up with new solutions to problems or to think of new problems or questions.
In this Blog post, based on a popular session at the 30th ACHPER International Conference, Deborah Robertson from Federation University applies this concept to the area of Creative Movement in HPE and provides students with experiences beyond sports and fundamental movement skills often presented in Physical Education.
