Committee Corner
It's hard to believe medal final season is already upon us! After all of their hard work, riders are proving they can handle the pressure and rise up to the challenge in competition. Speaking of rising to the challenge, we must congratulate Jenny Karazissis and Augusta Iwasaki on their huge wins in the hunter ring at HITS Saugerties! Jenny won the $500,000 Diamond Mills Hotel & Tavern Hunter Prix Finals and Augusta won the $100,000 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix. You can read more about their wins in this newsletter. Good luck to all of our competitors as we enter the busy fall show season!

Congratulations to our Payton Potter, 14, of Modesto, California, who took home top honors at the inaugural USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Finals-West at the International Jumping Festival (Sept 20-24).

Breanna Bunevacz, 13, of Valencia, California was second place, and Juliette Joseph, 14, of Del Mar, California, came in third.  Click here to read more.

This special medal class provides Junior riders with the opportunity to develop their equitation skills over a jumper style course. The Jumping Seat Medal Finals were similar to the Talent Search Finals and gave Junior riders the chance to experience that style of competition at a lower height.

The International Jumping Festival also hosted the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals, which is a hallmark competition for young riders with the Finals testing all aspects of their riding ability over flat, gymnastics, and jumping phases.

In addition, riders had the opportunity to compete in the USEF Zones 8, 9, and 10 Adult Equitation Regional Finals and the USHJA Zones 8, 9, and 10 Hunter Seat Medal Regional Finals. Check out next month's newsletter for more coverage of these fantastic classes!

Zone 10 Riders Make an Impact at HITS Saugerties
Congratulations to Zone 10 riders Jenny Karazissis and Augusta Iwasaki who made headlines at HITS Saugerties! Jenny and Undeniable (Hope Town Farms, owner) had a flawless final round in the $500,000 Diamond Mills Hotel & Tavern Hunter Prix Finals, earning the highest individual score of the evening, a 92, and taking home the blue ribbon and the lion's share of the substantial prize money. The week was a memorable one for Jenny as she and Big Shot (Dulcie Lou Morris, owner) won the Stal Hendrix Green Hunter Futurity earlier in the week.

Thirteen-year-old Augusta proved she could handle the pressure in the hunter ring, competing in the prestigious $100,000 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix for the first time. She and Small Adventure (Iwasaki & Reilley, owner) impressed the judges and extended their lead by a wide margin in the third and final rounds.  Augusta was thrilled to come home with the win.

Thirteen-year-old Dylan Laiken has had a tremendous season, earning gold medals in both the team and individual competitions of the inaugural Children's division at the Adequan/FEI North American Junior Young Rider Championships.  She and Callao were the only pair to have zero faults throughout the entire competition.

"It felt amazing to bring home the gold medals.  It's still hard to believe it really happened. I couldn't ask for a better horse for this competition. Callao is wonderful," Dylan shared. "I tried not to overthink it and just focused on riding. My trainer told me to 'Go in and dance,' and that's what we tried to do!"

Dylan has continued to impress, participating in the Emerging Athletes Program (EAP) Regional Session and winning the $15,000 Seahorse Open Jumper Classic at the Portuguese Bend National Horse Show (Sept 8-10).

"Next season, I'm looking forward to hopefully moving up to the Juniors and also jumping in some grands prix."
