Dear St. Francis of Assisi Parents and Guardians,

Our annual eighth grade fundraiser, Tricks, Treats, and Tacos, drew over 800 students, parents, and alumni to the St. Francis School campus for a night of treats, costumes, and dancing.  This is one of my favorite activities because it brings our school community together to share the joy of each other's company.  From one end to the other, the school courtyard was rocking with fun, laughter, and conversation.  The music, food, treats, costumes, and dancing created a magical evening for our families.  Eighth grade parents, teachers, and students collaborated and contributed to the evening's success. They made all the arrangements for food, drinks, and music, set up the decorations, and the least favorite task, clean up.  The proceeds are used for the eighth grade class legacy gift and to help pay for the Disneyland trip to celebrate graduation.

Tricks, Treats, and Tacos is one of many activities that build community and raise money.  Since the opening of school we have hosted the New Parent Social, Back to School Nights, General Parent Meeting, Cookies and Candles, Fall Fest, Book Fair, Daddy and Me Pumpkin Carving, and Tricks, Treats and Tacos.  Thus far, fundraising activities have generated over $41,000 in revenue, putting us in great shape to meet and exceed our EOY fundraising goal of $90,000. I wish to express my sincere gratitude to all SFA families who support school activities,  and I encourage all parents to get involved to help plan and execute school community events.

As is always the case, events are not successful without strong leadership, good planning, and effective execution.  Special thanks to the following parents for supporting SFA fundraising activities:

Fall Fest:   Michelle Manzella (event chair), Jen Bush, Darren and Lindsey Campbell, Yuvia Cruz, Amanda Douglas, Kim Garrido, Mia Gutierrez, Oscar Marin, Katie Odden, Mike Real, Jolene Sedita, Peter Seariac, Lorena Sheremetta, Nicole Simmons, Caitlin and Martin Wing.

Cookies and Candles:  Danielle Hill (event chair), Lori Varisco, Raquel Avila, Judy Shinnefield, Ellen Burke, Betty Woods.

Fall Book Fair: Guillermo Almeida and William Avila (event co-chairs), Michelle Bacolod, Ellen Burke, Viviana Dewhurst, Alex Flor, Anniilyn Guerrero, Stephanie Kovats, Mariquit Lozano, Haidee Morgan, Dina Ornelas, Tony Ward.

Tricks, Treats, and Tacos:  Janine Fairchild (event chair), Anne Kridle and Susan Schulze (eighth grade room parents), eighth grade parents.

These are great examples of what happens when parents get together with school staff in support of a school event.  They highlight what is good about our school community.  Everyone plays a role in support of activities in which the entire community benefits,  We work, play, and pray together!  That is what makes our community unique and very special. This is the spirit of St. Francis.

Thank you for supporting St. Francis of Assisi School!
