Thankful and Blessed are two terms we use to express our attitude of gratitude this season. Harvest season is truly a manifestation of all good intentions. Our intentions for how we serve our fine gardening clients, nursery guests and each other are rooted in a deep appreciation for the benefits of connecting with Nature, even on the most simple level.

To that end, we are providing some ideas for creating a Nature-inspired holiday season to help you stay "grounded" while getting things done, and to help you have some fun in the process. Surrounding ourselves with simple elements of nature is proven to help calm us, energize us, and help us stay focused during periods of high activity or stress. What could be more meaningful at this time of year than to set our hearts and minds in the right place so that we can truly enjoy the season ahead, and each other?

Plant of the Month: Winterberry
The Winterberry shrub,  Ilex verticillata, is a deciduous shrub native to Minnesota, Texas, Florida and Nova Scotia. This "Winter Red" cultivar produces beautiful red fruit in early winter. It will thrive in moist, wet, well-drained, poorly-drained or compacted soil conditions, making it perfect for most landscapes. It is tolerant to Japanese beetles, and will grow in full sun to part shade. We appreciate the Winterberry!
