I stand with all of you in praying for those who are hurting and grieving because of the horrific event this past Sunday in Sutherland Springs, Texas. We live in a broken world, and we serve a God who has died for a broken world. Thanks be to God for resurrection, and for the hope we have in the God who is near to the brokenhearted.
This past Sunday, 114 of you committed to
being a Student Prayer Champion! There is still time to make this small but important commitment to know the name of, pray for, and reach out to one of our students -- just email [email protected].
For those of you who did make this commitment, more details will be coming soon.
If you were not here on Sunday, you can watch my sermon here.
Here's a portion of a text I received fro
m one of our high school students:
"Me and so many of my friends are beyond stressed right now, and in your sermon yesterday and in asking members of the congregation to sign cards to reach out to high schoolers you helped us feel so loved and supported by our church family--my small group and I were brought to tears with the acceptance, grace and relief that we felt through it all! So often in La Canada we all become blinded by the expectations of perfection that we all face, and it was so refreshing to remember that God doesn't care about the numbers."
I think God is up to a lot of cool things around here, and connecting the generations is one of them! Thank you, Jesus.
This Sunday, Megan will be preaching from Matthew 17:1-6 when Jesus' glory was revealed to his disciples on a mountain. What do mountaintop moments like this teach us about God, and how can they inspire us to live in the valleys of everyday life?
See you Sunday.
We also encourage you to connect through the following events:
