Summit County Master Gardeners cordially invite you to attend DESIGN & BEYOND 2018. "NEW LOCATION" Our Lady of the Cedars/Bradleys Catering.

Buffet Lunch

This year's theme is "The Heart and Soul of the Garden". All who enjoy gardening are invited to attend this annual symposium featuring renowned gardening experts. The fee for this event is $50.00.

The registration deadline has been extended to January 16, 2018!  

D&B qualifies for 5 Master Gardener CE hours.  

 

 

Paul Zammit, is a graduate of the University of Guelph, is the Nancy Eaton Director of Horticulture at the Toronto Botanical Garden.

He is an energetic and passionate speaker who is much in demand and has presented across Canada and in the United States. In recent years, Paul has presented in Germany, Switzerland and Bermuda. He has appeared both on television and in print.

In the summer of 2016, Paul had a weekly gardening column providing gardening advice on the CBC Here and Now radio program. He is back again for the 2017 season.

His container designs have been showcased in assorted gardening magazines - most recently on the cover of the 2012 special design issue of Garden Making.

He has been awarded the Young Professionals award by the Perennial Plant Association and he was the recipient of an Industry Service Award.

 

Martha Smith is a graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelors Degree in Ornamental Horticulture. She earned a Masters Degree in Education from Western Illinois University.

In addition to providing programs in ornamental horticulture, Martha has been actively involved in trialing new cultivars of herbaceous ornamentals at the Northern Illlinois Research Center and hopes to continue her involvement in trialing in the counties she now serves.

Included in her awards and recognitions are the National Association of County Agriculture Agents Achievement for leadership in the 4- seasons telenet series that has been offered throughout Illinois since 2003. She has received two Outstanding/Innovative University of Illinois Team Awards, 2016 Interdisciplinary Team award and the 2016 Individual Extension Excellence award.

She has served as past Central Regional Director for the Perennial Plant Association, Illinois Green Industry Association, Illinois Certified Nursery Professional, North American Rock Garden Society and is currently the Central Region Secretary for the American Conifer Society. She is also a Certified Arborist.

Ann Cicarella is owner/designer at Ann Cicarella Landscape and Design Shaker Heights Ohio. She is also founder of "Bikes, Bees and Butterflies" an urban pollinator habitat education initiative and president of Medina Beekeepers Association.

Ann's former garden ornament store, Garden Folly, has made its way to her famous potting shed and her masterful containers have been featured in Country Gardens Magazine.
