At SCL, we spend a lot of time thinking about space. Interior space, that is.  Every day we focus on the physical area that surrounds us in our homes and how it impacts our lives.  We think about how our clients live, work and play, so we can design for their specific needs.  How does an interior space make our clients feel?  Does it make their lives better, more comfortable?  Is this a place they can come to relax and recharge?

This month's newsletter is all about space.  Particularly, the unique challenges related to designing a small space.  However, we also share ideas with you about how to transform a space and how adding special touches to a room can make it your own.

As we prepare for the busy holiday season ahead, I have also been thinking about another kind of space. It is the space of time.  It is about stealing a few moments for reflection and calm, during our otherwise busy day.  Take time to breath, focus and come mindful of your surroundings and actions.  Believe me, I know it is hard to find these hidden moments, but I invite you to try.  Make space in your day for you!

Warm regards,
Kim

Here are a few things I have learned about designing for small spaces:  [Read more...]

  • When working on a renovation project, we like to reach out to local craftsmen to help create and implement our designs.  It is especially gratifying when we find a new vendor who understands the design process and is dedicated to quality.  It increases our ability to create a fine product for our clients  and also connects us to our community.  We recently worked with two such vendors on a basement renovation and were thrilled with the outcomes.  Take a look...  [Read more...]
