Recent Happenings

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year's Quick Draws, Cocktails & Costumes! This fun event featured aerial dancing by Mountain Air Dance, costume contests, haunting spirits, snacks, music, and more! Guests also were able to watch five quick draw artists (all Emerson tenants!) create original pieces throughout the night. Later in the evening these pieces were auctioned off with the funds going to support the Emerson. If you couldn't make it this year, we hope you can join us next year!

Esther sullivan design

Ester Sullivan has called the Emerson home for nearly two years. Ester shared that she loves how the Emerson has its own voice, and continues to carry its tradition of education, community, and the arts and she is so happy to be a part of it! If you attended our recent Quick Draws, Cocktails & Costumes, you were able to see Esther at work as one of our Quick Draw artists of the evening. Her jewelry work is influenced by nature, and its connection with the human spirit, where she herself finds so much peace.  It shows in her delicate, yet edgy designs with earthy textures incorporated with geometric forms in reclaimed mixed metals.

Tad Bradley
"Biological Explorations"
September 8 - November 26, 2017

The work within this series is based upon Tad's fascination with the human body and complexities outside and within. From the imaging that allows us to see within the body to the senses we use to understand our environment, the work will reveal different scales of exploration. One of his goals in creating this work was to analyze how we as humans experience the world, interact with one another, and stand alone as individuals. Tad hope that the work creates curiosity, questions and conversation.

Anne KM Ross
Cut Loose: the Ramblings of a Meticulously Unrestrained Soul
September 1 - November 17, 2017

"Cut Loose" finds the middle ground between unleashed spontaneity and calculated, meticulous efforts. Anne's process involves specific preparation, mapping and shaping of the canvas, and before any piece is complete there must be a stage where simple physics take control. Anne becomes a curious observer of the dripping, swirling paint, and nothing qualifies as a mistake. Things that were carefully painted in are lost or obscured, and this changes her work for the better. It opens doors via new shapes and themes that emerge for Anne to react to and resolve the piece more masterfully than was possible before.

Atlas, Oil on Canvas

All of our galleries are free and open to the public.
