Congratulations to OM Cross Country teams! The boys cross country team placed 3rd at the 2A South Regional Championship and the girls placed 6th. Both teams qualified for the State Championships, which will be held at Hereford High School on November 11th.

International High School Exchange Opportunity, Summer 2018
Interested in traveling to Cergy-Pontoise, France or Tres Cantos, Spain this summer?  Students studying French or Spanish, level III or above, have the opportunity through Columbia Association's (CA) Sister Cities program to spend two weeks with a French or Spanish host family, then host a French or Spanish teen for two weeks upon returning home. An information session will be held at the CA headquarters, located at 6310 Hillside Court, Columbia on Wednesday, Nov. 15 from 7-8pm. Join over 150 performers from seven Howard County high schools and professional local soloists as we start the holiday season with an Oakland Mills tradition. Holiday music featuring a full orchestra and choir, dancers, readings by on-air radio personalities from WBAL Radio as well as a visit from our very own Santa will get your toes tapping and lift your spirits. Winter Gear Drive 
The SFES Safety Patrol will sponsor a Winter Gear Drive through November 17th. Please help make this Winter Gear Drive successful by donating new or gently used coats, hats, and gloves for the students. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated.
 
Book Fair

SFES Turkey Trot
November 17, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The turkey trot is Stevens Forest PTA's biggest fall fundraiser. Students write letters to family and friends asking for donations in support of their running in the event.
 
Safety Matters:
  • Dogs on School Property - While many of us love our furry friends, please remember that dogs are not allowed on school property during school hours. This is especially applicable during arrival an dismissal. Thank you for help in keeping our students safe!
  • Safety on Stevens Forest Road - Families are parking on the west side of Stevens Forest Road directly across from the school and then crossing the street at that location. This action is dangerous! Please use the designated crosswalks or tunnel at Kilimanjaro Road or the crosswalk across from the pool to cross Stevens Forest Road. Safety is our first priority. Thank you for your cooperation!

TSES has a new playground, which students are being gradually introduced to. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held in the morning on November 8th.

HC DrugFree
HC Drug Free is looking for parent/adult volunteers. Please email [email protected] to volunteer. Include your availability and specify whether you can type, are willing to drive to pharmacies or liquor stores, and/or have any special skills or interests. 

Blessings in a Backpack
Please support Talbott Springs in this Community Outreach program. One hundred percent of the money raised goes to purchase food. To support Blessings in a Backpack, visit  blessingsinabackpack.org and select Talbott Springs. All donations are tax deductible. We thank you for your support for our students in need.  

A-OK Mentoring 
Make a difference! Help enhance the academic and social development of identified Howard County elementary school students in schools near you through a consistent, supportive relationship with a child.  Volunteers must be available weekday, daytime hours to meet one-on-one with an assigned student during the school day or with students in small groups in afterschool programs.
