News & Updates from NAMI Franklin County

November is a busy month and a prelude to the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Veteran's Day is this week. I know you join me in expressing my sincerest gratitude for the service and sacrifices of our men and women in the military. As you scroll through this month's newsletter, be sure to read about our new program, Homefront, for families, friends, and caregivers of military service members who have mental health conditions.

It's hard to believe we are coming to the end of 2017!  Thanksgiving is a few weeks away and then it is time for our annual holiday party.  I do hope you'll join us as we celebrate the season.

All the best,
Rachelle A. Martin, Executive Director

Homefront: Supporting Vets on Veteran's Day and Every Day!
On Veteran's Day and everyday, we honor those who have given so much in service to our country.  NAMI now offers Homefront, a free, 6-session educational program for families, caregivers and friends of military service members and vets with mental health conditions. The program is taught by trained family members of service members/veterans living with mental health conditions.

We've all seen the warm and fuzzy quotes about gratitude and stopping to smell the roses. We've been told to be thankful for the little things in life because all those little things add up to what is important. And if you think about it, it's true, especially when you care for a loved one who struggles with mental illness. Often, we want, hope, and pray that our loved ones can return to who they used to be. For many of us, we learn to mourn the loss of that son, daughter, sibling, or other relative who was so smart, outgoing, and with so much potential.  Read more
