For 14 years, the Massachusetts STEM Summit has convened leaders and practitioners from the state's education, business, and government sectors, all dedicated to promoting a STEM-literate workforce and citizenry across the Commonwealth.
Over the years, the Summit has presented countless examples of initiatives in which partners from diverse sectors have come together to leverage each other's complementary strengths, expertise, and resources.Throughout this year's Summit - through talks, presentations and exhibits - we look to showcase many more of these unique partnerships and their exciting, cutting-edge programs and collaborations.

The UMass Civic Initiative again brings the world to Amherst
Via funding from the US Department of State, this summer and fall the Civic Initiative once again hosted a full schedule of exchange programs. That translates to a total of 119 participants from 24 countries including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon, Czech Republic, Finland, Ghana, Greece, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Laos, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mynamar, Pakistan, The Philippines, Sierra Leone, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam.

Free Sustainability resources available for teen pregnancy programs across the nation
We have multimedia resources for nonprofit organizations' sustainability, specifically for evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs. A podcast, PDF guide and webinar were produced by our Nonprofit Funding & Fiscal Solutions (NFFS) group.

CareerWorks signs contract to continue services in the Brockton, MA area
Early in 2017 the Brockton Area Workforce Investment Board (BAWIB) awarded the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Title I contract to CareerWorks after a competitive bidding process. The new contract started in July and allows the CareerWorks staff to continue to provide high quality services to job seekers and employers in the Brockton area.
"Recognizing their commitment and dedication to our community, the Brockton Area Workforce Investment Board has awarded the One Stop Career Center charter to UMass Donahue Institute," said BAWIB Executive Director Sheila Sullivan-Jardim. "
This partnership has produced superior performance outcomes benefiting our job seekers and employers in the region. The board of BAWIB and staff are eager to continue working with UMass to serve the workforce development needs in our communities."
