Three TABC Students Semifinalists for National Merit Scholarships
We are proud to announce three students who are National Merit Scholar semifinalists this year: Tani Greengart '18, Yosef Kahan '18 and Shlomi Helfgot '18. This outstanding achievement ranks TABC as 2nd  among all of the yeshivot in the Tri-State area.

These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring.

We take great pride in the accomplishments of our National Merit semifinalists and the academic achievements of all our students in a variety of different areas and disciplines.
Welcome Back Shabbaton
Reunites and Excites
TABC's talmidim reunited with one another on the Welcome Back Shabbaton for sophomores, juniors and seniors. The seniors went up to the Camp Kaylie grounds on Thursday for some extra bonding time. On Friday, all the grades were afforded the choices of paintballing, white water rafting or sports on the camp grounds. Everyone joined together for an uplifting Shabbat replete with camaraderie, ruach and learning.  At night, rebbeim lead a thought-provoking discussion about how to understand the concept of "am segulah" and the tish energized the room in the way that has become a TABC staple. On Shabbat day, each grade had the opportunity to ask a rebbe panel about the issues they have burning in their minds, in what will hopefully be the beginning of many fruitful discussions throughout the year. Shabbat ended with wonderful singing, as the talmidim prepared to take the spirit of the shabbaton back with them to TABC. For more photos, click here.

Night Seder Off to a Great Start
TABC's night seder is off to a strong start! "V'hagita bo yomam valayla." TABC's Beit Midrash continues to be filled with a kol Torah every evening after the school day has ended. Many talmidim choose to stay for night seder under the guidance of Rabbi Raphi Mandelstam. Students can either learn b'chavruta, on their own, or hear chaburot from Rabbi Yoni Mandelstam, Rabbi Michael Hoenig or Rabbi Duvie Nachbar. TABC is proud of its talmidim's dedication to talmud Torah.
AP Bio Starts Out with a Sweet Lab and a Fun Challenge
In Mrs. Ruskins's first AP Bio lab, students investigated whether Double-Stuffed Oreos actually contain "double the stuff" of regular Oreos. They made hypotheses and designed their own experiments, and they will present their results to the class at the end of the week.

For our second lab, the students investigated the unique properties of water, in particular cohesion and adhesion. They tested how many drops of water they could fit onto the top of pennies under varying conditions, and they are learning how to perform statistical tests to analyze and interpret their data.

TABC  Seniors Begin Their
Exploration and Study of the
Destruction of European Jewry

The 2017-2018 academic year has only just begun and students in TABC's Holocaust Studies class are already beginning to understand the historical roots of antisemitism in Europe and the dangers of stereotyping and prejudice. As a major part of their course of study, Mrs. Reichardt, chairperson of the History department at TABC and their instructor, arranges several Yom Iyun programs at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in NYC and the Holocaust Museum and Center for Tolerance and Education at Rockland Community College.

On Wednesday, September 13th, the class participated in the first of their special programs with a workshop led by Abigail Miller, Director of Education at the Museum. Ms. Miller delivered a presentation on "The Rise of Nazism," and she was very impressed by the amount of information our students shared with her. After a Q and A session, the students participated in an exercise analyzing primary sources of the Jewish community's response to the Nuremberg Laws.

The highlight of the day's program featured a talk by survivor, Mrs. Trudy Album. The students were mesmerized  by her story of determination, survival and unwavering faith.

The class will be returning to the Center in February to view the museum's exhibits and display of artifacts, which is still under construction. It is through interactive, "hands-on" experiences like these, incorporated with class instruction, related literature, film and survivor testimonials, that we hope to personalize the Holocaust for every student so that they will bear witness for the future.

9/11 Remembered
RABBI YABLOK ADDRESSES STUDENTS
TABC joined with the rest of America in commemorating the tragic events of 9/11. Rabbi Yablok addressed the talmidim after davening and recalled the feeling of unity and acts of kindness that the tragedies of that day inspired. He exhorted the students to not wait until times of tragedy to act, but to engage in acts of chesed on a daily basis.

RABBI JACHTER SPEAKS ABOUT THE AGUNAH ISSUES
WHICH AROSE AFTER 9/11
On Monday, September 11 Rabbi Jachter offered many of his classes the option to discuss how Batei Din permitted the agunot of 9/11 to remarry.  Many of the classes chose to focus on these situations.  Three cases were reviewed and students were taughtthe basis in the Mishna and Gemara for the Batei Din to permit the women to remarry.  The shiurim were dedicated in memory and honor of the those who fell in the 9/11 attacks.  Students found the discussion meaningful and enlightening, having been exposed to a side of Jewish life which otherwise would have been obscure.
Alumni Pride
On Sunday, September 10, 2017, fifteen of our alumni joined together to play in the inaugural HASC Hockey Alumni Tournament in TABC.  Aside from their accomplishments of coming in second place (losing to DRS 1-0 in the championship game), the team raised over $8,000 to benefit HASC.
