A BRIGHT NEW YEAR
Before Hurricane Harvey hit our area, the Clear Creek ISD community had just celebrated the start to another school year. The first day of school was also the Great American Solar Eclipse. Thanks to community partners, JSC Federal Credit Union and the Clear Creek Education Foundation, the District was able to secure ISO Certified solar viewing glasses to protect the eyes of students and staff during the August 21 event. Every campus participated in viewing this thrilling phenomenon in some way, and the enthusiasm and sense of wonder could be felt throughout the halls from students and staff.

CCISD CARES: AFTER THE STORM
After The Storm

The CCISD Family is exactly that - Family.

The Clear Creek Independent School District is fortunate to call this community home. During this time of crisis, we have seen the best of CCISD shine through where neighbors are helping neighbors, students are donating clothes to their peers, and our own employees are balancing great personal loss while simultaneously getting our schools back to a safe and effective learning environment.

We know our schools are the heartbeat of our community, and the sign of normalcy has been having our buses back on the road and our hallways bustling with children this past week.

We also recognize there is still much work to be done in our area. In response to the devastating effects of Hurricane & Tropical Storm Harvey, CCISD has successfully launched the CCISD Cares initiative which includes a distribution site for clothing and school supplies, help for children, and other community resources that are at the ready for our families. Even though school is back in session, we know the need for support is not over.

Take a moment to watch Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith's message above to our staff, students and community as we continue to rebuild, together.

SALUTE TO HEROES OF HARVEY GAMES

The Board of Trustees, leadership and staff of the Clear Creek Independent School District are overwhelmed by the acts of heroism and outpouring of support experienced before, during and after Hurricane Harvey came to town. Countless first responders from all CCISD cities answered the call, risking their safety and suspending their own personal loss to rescue and aid members of the CCISD family. And it's time to say thank you.

As the 2017 football season home games kick off tonight, CCISD wishes to shine the Friday night lights on the Heroes of Harvey, the first responders, as well as a community that stepped up in awe-inspiring ways. The District is offering free admission to all fans, heroes and helpers. Donations to the CCISD Cares fund will be accepted at the gates which will directly benefit CCISD families impacted by the storm. Donations of new school shoes and/or socks for boys and girls, ages 3 to 18, will also be collected.
