Business Connects with Government Luncheon
An Update on Economic Development in the State of Wisconsin & Manitowoc County

A Business Connects with Government Luncheon was held at the Manitowoc Public Library on Monday.

Invited guest Tricia Braun, Chief Operating Officer for the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), presented on economic development in the State of Wisconsin.

Additionally, Peter Wills, Executive Director of Progress Lakeshore, gave a brief update on economic development in Manitowoc County.

UnitedOne presents $4,500 to The Chamber for Jr. Leadership Manitowoc County program
 
Kim Rooney of UnitedOne Credit Union presented a check to The Chamber's Jr. Leadership Manitowoc County program in the amount of $4,500. UnitedOne Credit Union is the sponsor of this year's program.

The Jr. Leadership Class of 2017-18 participated in Team Building Day on Wednesday, led by Leadership Manitowoc County Committee members Tim Klein of Bay Area Medical Center and Michael Etheridge of The Haven of Manitowoc County, Incorporated.

5th Annual Safety Symposium

The Chamber's Safety, Health & Wellness Council hosted the 5th Annual Safety Symposium at Lakeshore Technical College on Thursday morning.

Presentations and speakers included:
  • Local Drug Scene: Eating Away at Community and Workplace Safety presented by Lieutenant Dave Remiker of the Manitowoc County Metro Drug Unit
  • Designing an Effective Drug Testing Policy for the Workplace presented by Bill Persinger of Lakeshore Technical College
  • Reasonable Suspicion: Drug and Alcohol Testing presented by Lori Wessel, Holy Family Memorial
  • Understanding Workers Compensation Insurance presented by David Obermann of Ansay & Associates

A Ribbon Cutting celebration was hosted by Paradise Foods on Friday at their new location at 1210 Washington St. in Two Rivers (the previous M&M Lunch building).

Paradise Foods serves fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine.

 


Briess Malt & Ingredients Co. makes first round of "Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin"


Nearly 150 nominees competed to become the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin, but now only 16 are left. After 31,919 votes were cast, the top 16 products were announced on Wednesday via Facebook Live. These 16 products will be seeded in a bracket-style tournament, which can be seen below.

Vosting will begin on Monday, September 18 and go through 11:59pm on Monday, September 25. CAST YOUR VOTE HERE STARTING MONDAY.

Individuals can vote once every 24 hours.
