Phishing Email Attempt

TEA was notified on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 14, that a phishing
e-mail has been in circulation. The e-mail, included above, claims to be from the Association of Texas Educators and from a Dr. Irene Przbysz.

The email bears the ATPE logo, an outdated TEA logo, and comes from a non-TEA email address that appears to target teachers with the following message:  "You are invited to represent your school and district in a three day all-expense paid seminar and training workshop taking place in Austin,TX, it is being put together by the Association of Texas Professional Educators and Texas Education Agency. Kindly go through the included seminar invitation for details and registration."

Two links are provided to supply information for seminar registration. Clicking on either of these links is not advised.  Neither TEA nor ATPE have any connection with this email nor is any such joint training seminar currently scheduled by our organizations. The contact name and phone number provided in the email are not associated with either organization.

This e-mail is a phishing attempt and should be deleted without following any of the included links.

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

Suicide is a serious public health problem that takes an enormous toll on families, friends, classmates, co-workers, and communities, as well as on our military personnel and veterans. School communities are responsible for providing an effective initial response to potentially suicidal students, and knowing when and where to refer students for additional assistance.

Click here for information on warning signs, risk factors, what to do if you have a concern about a student, myths and facts, and additional community resources.

YMCA Survey for EMS Employees

The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth and the Northwest Y are conducting a community needs assessment. As the Y is a valued partner of EMS ISD, we have agreed to distribute this survey so our employees have the opportunity to participate. Based on this community needs assessment, the Y, in partnership with others, will design and deliver new programs and services that address critical issues in the areas of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Click here  to take a short online survey. Responses are not individually tracked and are kept confidential. The assessment should take approximately 5 minutes to complete, and the results will be compiled into an executive summary that will be shared with our organization and others partnering with the Y in this effort.

Should you have any questions, please contact Doug Fox, Executive Director of the Northwest YMCA at (817) 237-7237 or by email at
[email protected] .
