Thank you for taking the time to come to Open House on Wednesday evening. We enjoyed seeing the smiling faces of our students. The students looked refreshed and ready for the school year! Welcome to the 2017 - 2018 school year - It is going to be a GREAT year!
During the Open House, Mr. Epping (Principal) and Ms. Benz (Associate Principal) took a break to reflect on the new school year. We are proud of all of our staff members for working so hard in getting ready for the students. The teachers had workshops all week, the paras and support staff attended meetings, and the custodians continued to clean the building! Our cooks and office staff were also busy preparing for the school year.
As principals, we are fortunate to work in such an environment where it is "all hands on deck" for the benefit of the children! We are thankful for our students, staff, family and community!

Spring 2017 MCA and Access Results

On Friday, September 8th the Spring 2017 MCA results will be sent home with Grade 4 - 6. Also, any students that are English Language Learners will receive their Spring 2017 Access results. Please watch for these results in your child's backpack.

Just a reminder that during the first week of school we ask that parents do not attend lunch. This is a time that we are trying to establish routines for the students. It also allows students to interact with their classmates in a social setting. Thank you for understanding. If there is a unique situation, please contact Mr. Epping.

PTO - Coffee with the Principal - September 12th - 10:00 am - Cafeteria B

Our next PTO meeting is September 12th. During this time, Mr. Joe Epping, our new principal, will be joining us for an informal "Coffee with the Principal". Mr. Epping will give us an update on the happenings at Cedar Ridge Elementary School. In addition, we will have a PTO meeting with planning for the school year. We encourage all of our parents to join us at the PTO meeting.

Update on the Outdoor Classroom
|
|
The PTO and Cedar Ridge Elementary work collaboratively to enhance the educational experience for the students. Have you seen and visited the Outdoor Classroom?
This year the PTO will sponsor additional outdoor learning with either Mr. Larry Wade, a naturalist, or Three Rivers Park District. The naturalists from both of these programs will come to Cedar Ridge Elementary School to work with classrooms and teachers on science education. Some of the courses include: Animal Tracking, Bugs and Insects, Habitats, Erosion, and The Growing Environment.
The Outdoor Classroom Committee has been busy this summer working with the Eagle Award Scouts to enhance the classroom, adding paths to different outdoor learning spaces, and soon to be planting additional native plants for learning. Mrs. Heyer, Mr. Townsend, and Mr. Nielson are the teacher representatives on the committee. Mrs. Vanessa Nordstrom is the PTO liason on the core committee.
The Committee is looking for a donation of 15 - 18 limestone cubes for an outdoor classroom seating area. If you own a landscaping company or have a connection for a donation, please contact Ms. Jen Heyer at jheyer@edenpr.org to discuss the donation.
