What's sticking to you this week?  What comment did someone make that keeps echoing in your mind?  What mistake did you make that keeps filling you with regret?  What look did someone throw your way that you're still trying to figure out?  What opportunity did you miss that you just can't let go of?  What's sticking to your mind, your gut, your heart?

Let it go.  Face it, name it, discuss it directly, repair what you can.  And then let it go.  Ask God for help.  Breathe deeply, flex your muscles, literally unclench your hands and let it go.  Not because it didn't matter, but because when it sticks to you it drains you, slows you down, keeps you from living fully, from sensing God's presence.  So let it go.

And just so you know, I wrote those paragraphs for myself.  But I thought they might help you too.

Peace,

Rev. Cindy

Worship

Sunday, September 17, 9:30 am

You're Welcome!  What does it mean to truly create a community of welcome - in our neighborhoods, our faith communities, our towns?  Let's go beyond the superficial "all are welcome here" to think more deeply about the challenges of welcoming each other - and all parts of ourselves.

Spiritual Nurture

Spiritual Nurture begins this Sunday!

- Nursery care (toddlers through first graders) continues downstairs in the Vestry throughout the entire service.

- Elementary age will begin in worship then meet in the Pipe Room (corner of the Gathering Room) after the Word for All Ages.

- Middle school will begin in worship then meet in the Fellowship Hall (building out back) after the Word for All Ages.

Please complete a registration form (available from program leaders and in the back of the sanctuary or click here for a pdf version) and leave it in the offering plate, give it to the program leader, or return to the church office.  This is a critical part of our "safe conduct" policy, especially related to allergies and in case of emergency.  Many thanks!

The Next Step Toward Our
North Star

The Master Plan team will conduct a brief update on September 17th. Grab a cup of coffee in the Gathering Room and join us in the Fellowship Hall at 11 am.  At the Congregational Spring meeting, we presented our Master Plan concept and promised an update in September. We have accomplished a lot in the last few months: analyzed the cost estimates, set an initial budget, debated numerous options and scoped a phase 1 concept. We are ready to communicate with the congregation and to hear feedback from everyone.

Please join us!

Christmas Ornament Table Needs Your Help

Sunday, September 17, 10:45 am

The Christmas Decoration Table crafters began making ornaments and decorations over the summer.  It is wonderful to get a good start.    We now need your help with making additional items this fall.   We will be hosting in-home workshops to help us make a variety of ornaments and holiday decorations.  We scheduled a planning meeting on Sept 17, after the worship service (about 10:45) in the Pipe Room.  We would like to share ornament and Christmas decoration ideas as well as dates for workshops.  We hope to get started on our first home workshop by the end of September.  Please watch for specific announcements in the Vestry News Flash and Sunday Bulletin.  For more information, contact either Gloria Roe 978-264-0052.( [email protected])  Linda Morse at 978-266-2836, Connie Brown 978-391-4854.

2017 UCCB Directory Draft

The office has been working on updating the Church Directory for this year. Thank you to all of those who communicated changes during this past year to the office it was very much appreciated.

Please be sure to stop by the mail table in the Vestry or the information table at the top of the staircase landing to review your information in the draft of the church directory.   We are working hard to capture accurate information and appreciate your assistance.  Please provide any changes to the church office by email to [email protected] or by placing a hand written note in the church office mail box.  We ask that you only update your family information.

All edits are due to the church office by Sunday, September 24.

Fresh Air And Fellowship

Saturdays, 10:00 am

Want to experience some fresh air and fellowship? Saturday mornings are a great time!

Let's meet at 10:00 at UCCB for a walk - destination/distance unknown!

The walk will be customized depending upon who joins. Perhaps down Middle Road and then crossing into Steele Farm (if we have some good Boxborough guides!) or perhaps a loop on the roads. We'll be flexible and welcoming to all!   Please bring your own water bottle. If the organizers are organized (no guarantees!), there may be refreshments at the church for before / after.

Please feel free to personally invite family, friends, and neighbors to join.

The more, the merrier!

Alzheimer's Walk

Larry and I are walking in the Alzheimer's Walk on September 24 in memory and celebration of his Dad, his sister, my grandmother, and mother. No obligation but if you'd like to walk and or make a donation to the Alzheimer's Walk for a Cure, the link is here:

Thank you so much!

Time to Remember:  When the "they" could be "me".

Holding on and letting go; remembering when they no longer do.
the amazingness of who they are and what they have done,
when they no longer do.
Remembering who "they" have been, the ways they have shown love in their lives
Remembering all those who have showered them with love in the days of their lives
It could be you; it could be me.
We are all in danger of forgetting who we are.
We need to be reminded and remembered.
Maybe if we are reminded all our lives long
that God is with us in ways we can't imagine,
that we are not alone.
we won't forget, as the paths of our lives twist and turn in unexpected ways.

That is my prayer.
