The Episcopal Church in Utah turned 150 years old in August. As we celebrate, we bring you a bit of history in each newsletter.

Cathedral Church of St. Mark |
The Salt Lake Herald of June 9, 1871 reported that the bell at the Cathedral Church of St. Mark sounded for the first time and gave "forth some very sweet tones." It stated the bell weighed 800 pounds with another 340 pounds for the frame that secured it to the steeple. The original bell cracked in 1881 and the current bell you see in the photo was installed.

Southeast Region Celebrates 150th Anniversary
On Saturday, September 9th, seventy people gathered at the Episcopal Church of St. Francis, Moab, UT, to enjoy food, laughter, fellowship and stories at the first of the Regional Celebrations of the 150th year of the Episcopal Church in Utah. Guests enjoyed stories from members of the congregation and the Rt. Rev. Scott Hayashi. Bishop Hayashi also dedicated the new labyrinth at St. Francis with reflection and prayer. The celebration continued on Sunday with the Bishop celebrating the Eucharist and preaching.
The regional celebrations coincide with the Bishop's annual visits to congregations around the diocese. Please see the 150th website at:

DIOCESAN GOLF OUTING TO CELEBRATE THE 150TH

The Episcopal Diocese of Utah would like to invite you to join us at a golf outing to celebrate our Episcopal heritage, enjoy friends, the mountain air and breathtaking views of fall foliage.
Those interested are welcome to enter as a single player, two-player team or four-player team. Those who enter as single players or two-player teams will be matched up with other golfers for the scramble.

MVMC instituted a social media campaign and 34 brand-new backpacks were purchased locally for kids ages 5-15. Additionally, members of the Interfaith Council provided school supplies such as pencils, paper, crayons and glue.

FALL YOUTH RETREAT AT CAMP TUTTLE

WHERE: Camp Tuttle, Big Cottonwood Canyon
WHO: Junior and Senior High Youth (Grades 6-12)

Camp Tuttle is a place where kids ages 8-18 can come to make friends, be themselves and forget about their differences. Camp is staffed with friendly and professional young adults and designed to build community together in nature and celebrate God's love. Lessons, morals and friendships developed at camp can last a lifetime.
Join us for a fun filled weekend in the mountains, replete with love and faith, to enjoy the changing colors of the season. We will celebrate with a Halloween party and decorate pumpkins! Bring a small pumpkin and yor costume! No weapons or scary costumes please.

Happening is a renewal weekend for high school youth. It is unique because it is a retreat primarily led by teenagers for teenagers. It is an inspirational retreat, full of music, discusion, surprises, laughter and new friends.
