Mayor Price Is Right went global on us last Wednesday, hosting with the
Chamber the Mayor's International Luncheon at a packed
Cendera Center. The Mayor said 35.7 percent of all trade in DFW is NAFTA-related. A panel including, left to right, Raanan Horowitz of
Elbit Systems, Maria Mejia of
Ulterra Drilling and Phil White of Cervelo Cycles discussed doing business internationally from Fort Worth.

Hot to Trot: "I named my dog 5 Miles so I can tell people I walk 5 Miles every day." That cheekiness embodies everything about the Fort Worth YMCA Turkey Trot, now in its fourth decade on and off Camp Bowie, raising funds for the Westside YMCA. Beginning about 6:30 a.m. Thursday Nov. 23, runners and walkers, humans and pet humans, will converge and cover distances of 1K to 10K. Why not exercise off a few calories to leave extra room for that pecan and/or pumpkin pie? There's always room for more at this table, though passing around the cranberry sauce to more than 13,000 runners could take awhile. Because of this race and your support, peeps who wish to utilize the services of the Y, but cannot afford them, are given assistance. Chris Butler raced over with four entries, one hat and one promo shirt.
 This is lit! For the 35th consecutive year, Santa and Mrs. Claus will kick off their holiday season in Fort Worth. They have choice spots on a sled that brings up the rear of the 100-float XTO Energy Parade of Lights. "A Postcard to Christmas," produced by Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives, Inc., features more than 500,000 lights throughout a 1.5-mile route. The Parade's secondary highlights -- next to the Clauses, of course -- include never-before-seen floats, giant illuminated balloons, antique cars, marching bands, equestrian units, horse-drawn carriages, groups of carolers and a partridge in a pear tree. Adults are allowed to attend only if they accompany kids with big smiles and happy faces. Friends at Pavlov provided a family four-pack of tickets for reserved street seats.
Claus-et fans: Santa and Mrs. Claus are doing a two-fer this trip. During their last off-season, the Clauses co-wrote with Noah Putterman Santa Claus: A New Musical and a clause in that contract says it has to premiere annually at Casa Mañana Theatre. The musical is about Santa's retirement; he's going to get a feel for it during the days between the parade and the theater, during which the Clauses no doubt will want to check out the toy store in Sundance Square and the Missus will want to shop Clearfork and the new Tanger Outlet. The reindeer also are flying to Dallas for an appearance, but will be bringing their own food. Casa's Lindsey Rushen-ed over a family 4-pack of tickets for 7 p.m. Nov. 24.
Don't pause for Paw(s): Earlier this year, Mr. B traveled to help daughter MisBehavin' with her colic-ky newborn. When B arrived, MisBehavin' handed him the newborn AND the 4-year-old and she raced out the door, never to be seen again. B spent two days holding screaming newborn, while the transfixed older-born streamed Paw Patrol over and over. Upon returning to Fort Worth, Mr. B eschewed his daily nap to stream Paw Patrol. He was addicted. And he isn't alone. There are six shows coming to Verizon Theater and jimaustinonline's suite of 20 seats already are sold out for four. Another show has been donated for a local nonprofit's fundraiser. Jim Austin says if you want to see PAW Patrol Live! and be part of the Paw Patrol Cheer team, he has four tickets for the 10 a.m. Sunday Nov. 19 show.

 The calm after the storm? Becky Renfro Borbolla has been concentrating on growing the international market for Renfro Foods and it has been quite the salsa dance. She has been working with distributors for Iceland, the Philippines, Germany, Canada, Spain, Australia, the UK, Italy, Finland, New Zealand, Greece and South Korea. And ... "Henry and I have a new golden doodle puppy. It has been 30 years since I had a puppy. We are ready for her to hit the six-month mark and be calmer."
He's seen the light: Mr. B's nightlife of dishwashing-for-food trade with GM Greg Kalina at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House took a turnip for the good last week when Mr. Greg decided to open for lunch ... forever ... after 21 years of thinking about it. Same dishes to clean, same great eats. But Mr. B didn't realize how crowded it was during daylight hours.

Data cruncher: Andy Heinz, President/CEO of Lee Johnson Capital Management, says the firm has a proprietary investment software for advisors called BigFoot Investments. Nothing hairy about the name; it's in honor of the size 16 feet of Andy's partner. LJCM manages all accounts in house and has lists of stocks it is willing to own for clients and at what price it is willing to own them.
Hats off: Elbit Systems, celebrating 25 years in Fort Worth, makes the pilot display helmets for pilots of Lockheed Martin's F-35.
Drilling down: Maria Mejia, CFO and SVP of Ulterra Drilling, says the company sells drill bits and more to approximately 30 countries. It chose Fort Worth over Houston because it is centrally located to most oilfields and because of DFW International Airport's flights.
Price check: Mayor Price Is Right says North Texas made a joint bid for Amazon's HQ2, but once the region is short-listed, the "gloves will come off." During a reception at Comerica Bank, she also said that the No. 1 conversation large cities are having is about public education. She told an impactful story that happened several years ago when a large company relocating to Texas chose Austin over Fort Worth. Data, she was told, shows Fort Worth has an educated workforce now, but wouldn't in 10 years. That really got her on the road to improving education at every level.
Makes you wanna smile: A new Chamber member is Happy State Bank.
Irish eyes are smiling: Tim Brown, Heisman Trophy winner at Notre Dame and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, will be the keynote speaker at the 2017 Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl Kickoff Luncheon, scheduled Friday, Dec. 22nd at noon at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel.
 Jobs, jobs, jobs: Next Thursday is Workforce Solutions' annual statewide Hiring Red, White & You! Job Fair. It connects Texas veterans, their spouses and the public with 165 Texas employers and about 8,000 jobs. It's from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Attendance and parking at the Texas Rangers' Globe Life Park in Arlington are free.
